    I use my 180 to cut through anything the chain will go through! Adjustable carb and opening up the exhaust only cost about $20. Just as real of a saw as my 034 or 362 and my arms aren't dead after using it for an hour

    First chain saw

    My first saw to own was an MS180 i bought 2 years ago and will keep it forever for my lightwork saw.... i grew up using my dads 028 that he bought back in the 80's. We still have that saw and it runs like a champ! of course i've started adding to my collection.

    so i finally got around to doing this.... pulled the brass plug, plugged the other hole, switched caps, modded my muffler, adjusted 1 turn out on the high, and 1 1/4 on the low...had to turn the idle up a good ways, but damn this thing cuts nice now...i can put some good weight on it going into...

    you know some of us have to work some times! haha...this thread is going to help a lot, thanks Fish! I'm going to tear the carb down saturday, my local dealer has a cab kit there for it. well he says he does.

    the guy i bought it from told me he had updated all the lines on it. Do you know what carb is on this saw? One of my buddies is telling me to just replace the carb and not mess with reguilding it.

    thanks guys i'll look into both these things..i'll check the vents first make sure everything is free flowing..then i'll start adjusting the "L" if that doesnt work i'll look into the ignition...whats a replacement for the ignition run for one of these?

    this thread is giving me some ideas for my little MS180... do you guys have any pics of your muffler mods? stock compared to modded? does the stock carb on these have much tuning ability? I only have this saw and an 029...its much easier to pull this saw out for a lot of jobs, just wish it had...
