Carlton 7015 74hp Kohler or 74hp Kubota engine??

Stick Go with the Kubota. The Kohler is a rebadged Lombardini, which is definitely a good brand, they make marine engines, but there is way more support and parts availability in the US for Kubota, and most service tech's and mechanics know the Kubota's pretty well as they are used in lot of...

Multi stemmed red maple. Safe to prune out small stems?

What ATH said^^ Take out the whole cluster and let the larger tree next to them thrive by itself. Only thing you'll be missing out on is the tangled up mess of snags those two trees will create once they are both big and the canopies grow into each other.

Smallest cc saws anyone has used for milling

For making a beam or something those things are great but I still use a bigger saw like a 660 on mine with a shorter bar, as all of my 066/660 size saws have the high flow oiler. It's still easy to burn up a bar and chain milling with one of those and if I'm chainsaw milling a beam it's because...

Smallest cc saws anyone has used for milling

Only time I ever chainsaw mill is to make hardwood bar top or bench top size slabs so never really thought of using a small saw. Smallest saw I've ever used for that is an 066 or MS660 Stihl, usually use my 090 or MS880 for milling though. I'm sure a my 372xp or MS460 would do the job if I...

    Altec boom hours question..

No those are actual hours. Already posted on your other post about this, but not likely any truck is gonna run 13,900 hours without the drivetrain and PTO system being completely rebuilt, prorbably more than once.

Tree truck question. Input is appreciated! Thanks

No those are the actual hours more than likely if that's the mileage on them. Most engines won't go 14,000 hours without an overhaul, so unless the engines have been rebuilt or replaced I doubt it. The PTO assemblies on the transmissions probably wouldn't run that long either. You've got to...

I want to present an idea - please do not think of it as being far-fetched

GOOD LUCK. Helium is getting to be ridiculously expensive. I use it for welding aluminum sometimes. I have to basically double my rate on work that requires it to cover the gas.

Really no good way to do that without climbing the elm.

    modified mufflers

Most people MIG weld them. I would use Silicon bronze TIG brazing and stainless to make it look fancy, but I'm a welder.

    stihl 028av super

You must really love writing to yourself eh? check out hlsupply or something. Shouldn't be that hard to find. You may have to go with aftermarket parts.

Ever get funny looks about climbing?

Every single one of them always has to tell you how you must not me afraid of heights too lol

welding damaged bars and removing bar sprockets

I'm a pretty accomplished welder. The cost of the hard facing filler rod and the equipment you'd need to get into this, it's just not worth it, unless you already have a TIG setup. You're talking well over $1000.00 worth of equipment just for the welder and associated gear, and that would be a...

serious question on can I modify a wild thing? read my reason before cussing me

How about one of the small dolmars? Ps421 is cheap enough and its a sweet little saw.

    660R with 41" bar?

Just put a 12 pin piltz sprocket on it youll be good to go for frozen hardwood. [emoji85]

    660R with 41" bar?

Softwoods it will be usable with a bar that long. Trying to use it in hardwood will be a losing battle. I run a .404 41" cannon bar on my ms880 and it makes for a good but very heavy combo.

    ms-261 3/8 chain!?

16" with regular 3/8" on mine and it pulls fine. Easier to run the same chain on all my ground saws for the sake of not buying rolls of different chain.

What Knot Do You Use For Pulling Trees Over?

Cant we all just get along, not everyone can articulate well in writing. It does not mean they're stupid or don't understand what they're doing. A running bowline is what ive always used in what im thinking is your application. Knot your having issues with is probly some type of hitch. I know...

Sounds like it was too lean or leaned itself out. Crank seals? Carb boot? Etc.
