How do I strap on my climbing spikes???

you guys remember giving me the same (well deserved) crap when I couldn't get my gaffs on right? Think that same story was in that thread too about the backwards spikes newbie. Do a search in 101 for "spikes question" or something similar. No one means any harm, but you can't blame the...

What's the chances of finding a new 440 on the dealer's shelf?

guys I made a mistake about the 440 I saw. I brought the card out of my truck and he quoted me $615.25 out the door no bar and chain. I have the business card with info here by my computer. PM me if anyone's interested. I'm sure he still has it. sorry for the confusion.

    1965 army issue stihl

that's a mean looking machine. Great grandfather of MS361. "MS361, bred for destruction" --sorry, off topic and very weak at that. I'll work on it. :)

    Funny Husky Story

I walk into this tractor store. They sell Husky and I begin browsing. never get asked if I need help by anyone. I fiddled with a few things and finally approached the guy at the counter. I asked him if he could price me a top handled saw. he had no clue. I aksed if he had a catalog I could show...

What's the chances of finding a new 440 on the dealer's shelf?

    grinder input

I think I shouild keep shopping and get a bigger used one rather than a smaller new one. my friend is telling me that the towable kind is the way to go but I worry about tight spaces. Are those too heavy for an ATV?

I love my 361. I have the same starting problems evryone else seems to have (some other thread) but its still worth it. That's just a nice saw IMHO.

    The ultimate 3 saw plan.

200t (if I can keep it in one piece) 361 - 20" 3/8 660 - 25/32" full skip 3/8 (I always bring them all, and the 441 and 290 always get used, everyone has their favs. But I try to keep these three just for me)

    "cheap" versus expensive climbing saws

I fell on my 200 a few weeks ago and crushed all the plastic. Cost me a little under $200 to fix. Then I was cleaning out the filter and broke that (well the piece that ckicks it in place). So Right now I'm without a climbing saw. Course I don't have any tree work either. I'm thinking of...

    Just plain GOOD

Just wanted to say that the members of this board are some really thoughtful, good people. I think you all, sadly, represent a small minority of the general population but it is very comforting to know I can be in the e-company of such delightful people. Thank you to Bristol PA who sent me...

Saddle cutting into my groin area

my experience was more new saddle breaking in than callusing. Probably a combo. I bang the jewels around all the time up there. It looks painful from the ground but it's normally just gut and inner thigh rather than baby maker.

    unbelievable

take off your bar nuts, remove the cover (on Stihl at least), inside the cover there are two white plastic pieces stuck in there (one for top one for bottom). I'm assuming they are for the chain to have something soft to bump into of it is jarred around? They come right off if you pull them...

    cross cutting bad for chain?

yeah. I was talking about ripping. My FIL has a home made splitter he just put a 3000 lBS winch on to hoist up big pieces to split and I was helping him the other day. I was already tired and we had been splitting for about two hours. He insisted on me hooking every piece I couldn't lift so he...

    unbelievable

I never even thought of that. Why would they still send me an empty envelope? Those bumper strips are probably clogged in some mechanicized mail thrower in Western NC somewhere. But the corner was taped. So someone along the line knew it was ripped.

    Time to use a contract

I've collected 1k in cash so far and she gave me a $500 check last week to assure me I would have the last payment tomorrow. I spoke with her today and we plan to meet just like last week. She's going to give me an extra $50 for my trouble. Then she'll just tear up the check. Yeah, that...

    unbelievable

An AS member, out of the kindness of his heart, sent me a couple of bumper strips after I posted I was missing them. Look at the picture of what I got in my mailbox. What a great world we live in. I hope the mail thief is enjoying the heck out of the scratched plastic pieces that he can't seem...

    cross cutting bad for chain?

I don't do it enough to buy a ripping chain. I just did it the other day so someone could get a huge piece of wood on the splitter and wondered if it had any adverse effects on my chain. thanks for the answers guys.
