    Phytophotodermatitis

I've never had an ill effects from Osage Orange (hedge) or Mulberry, and we'll cut plenty of those in all weather conditions -- maybe they're not as potent as the common fig. It's good to know.

Does Anyone here mill with an electric chainsaw?

I have a vintage 14" portable bandsaw mill that was designed to be driven by a chainsaw, but modified to use a heavy duty 120v angle grinder. It works well. I milled several 12" x 8' black walnut, oak, and ash logs with it. You have to be patient and keep your blades sharp. I've also used a...

What do you guys think of the Stihl MS 250?

Yes, the spark arrestor screen on the original muffler can plug up and cause starting problems. And as well noted, once they flood they are a pain. You can just remove the muffler and burn the crud off of the arrestor screen with a little propane torch and a steel brush, put it back together...

What do you guys think of the Stihl MS 250?

I have an MS250, and several other professional saws. The MS250 is light. It starts easily with two pulls on choke, then one pull off choke. The exhaust arrestor can get plugged up to make it harder to start and run rough, but you can just burn it clean with a propane torch (or a muffler mod)...

Chainsaw milling: how thick to cut slabs ?

Quarter Inch Rule The 1/4" rule is about right. Just remember that the first and last slabs (cuts near the edge) will warp more than the middle or quarter-sawn cuts as they dry. Seal the ends with a mixture of glue and water to reduce splitting.

what chain to run on 028??

I've switched to the .325-8 sprockets on both saws, and I didn't really think about how frequently I fill up the gas -- I'm usually ready for a short break by then anyways. Logically, you would get 8 revolutions for every 7 with the smaller sprocket.

what chain to run on 028??

A sharp 0.325 chain will work well I've tried both 0.325 and 3/8 inch chains, and I would go with a sharp 0.325 inch chain. I've used both .325-7 and .325-8 rim sprockets with those, and both work fine. +3

Anyone have any Mobile 1 2-stroke synthetic left?

Klotz R-50 is the way to go I was running short on my Mobil Racing 2T oil, so I ordered a gallon of the Klotz R-50 this Fall. I was very impressed. The saws even seemed to have more power than usual. It was $36.99 plus shipping from the Klotz Warehouse (http://www.klotzwarehouse.com). I...
