    Sling'rs official professional chain grinding.

Jasha, Thanks for getting the chains back to me in PA so quickly. Couldn't wait to try one out today and it really can cut. I have 6 more I will be sending your way. Can you do 16" chain for my 261? It is 0.325 pitch, 0.063 (not safety). Thanks again, CK

    Stihl MS271

I have an 026 over 20 years old and a 261. The 261 uses less gas. Running 16" bars on both.

    Stihl MS271

    Go with a 261.

    Which wood dries the fastest??

Ash can be burned green. Split the center (oldest part without bark) out and set aside. That will be the driest. In a pinch I have burn ash centers green and it doesn't even sizzle.

    ANTS---- What came first?

I think they need a wound to get into a tree. Cut down a big hickory the other day with a nest at least 15 feet up in the tree starting at a dead branch, the rest of the tree was fine.

Burned fast with lots of sparks for me, but if it is free...

    birch ????

Burns fine. I had a bunch of it from street trees spliting open in ice storms. Nice fruit wood.

Is it safe to run a fireplace insert 24/7?

I burn my Fuego insert everyday for heating my little 1100 sq.ft. two story. I did line the old chimney with a 7 inch liner.

    birch ????

Sycamore. It is in the maple family.

    Wood Burning-Question?

What you need is a woodshed. Dried maple is like a sponge.

    hickory seasoning time?

I burned all of my oak (2 years old) and now working on the hickory (Pignut-1 year old), 4 times the ashes. Yikes! It is burning fine after 1 year in the woodshed.

    Poplar as firewood?

Tulip is a huge tree, up to 200 feet tall. Aspen is much smaller.

    I haven't used a grate in years.

Water Oak or Black Tupelo/ Gum?

Looks like gum, Good luck splitting it! If it's ash, it will be a joy to split by hand.

How would you deal with these beast rounds

Noodle and split. But I hate short wood.

A few questions about a real tree.

Where I grew up in NJ they had signs posted along the turnpike saying "trees treated with noxious spray", if you stole a tree and brought it in it would stink up your house. I'm not sure if the people who would steal a tree would even understand the sign.

    Timber framing

Sorry I don't know him and haven't done any ice fishing. I do see guys out all winter, the lake freezes over about Jan. 15th.
