    Tree identification

This was a toughie... I'm not sure about sassafras. I have some in my wood shed now and the bark has more color to it than the pic. This tree looks dead but I still don't see any 3 lobed leaves under it. I too thought locust bc how prominent and twisty the main stem is but I'm not sure...

    Is this mulberry?

When mulberry is split it is as bright yellow as a school bus. When it seasons it turns brown like coffee

    Hardy Question

In the fourth pic there is evidence of water running down the domestic hot water In. That line also T's off into the tank fill solenoid. My suspicion is the water is leaking perhaps on the braided line in the upper right hand corner when the tank is taking on water. You can test by pulling...

    Wood ID

Hickory. That looks like bitternut hickory. The bark has a waxy look to it. https://www.pfw.edu/microsites/native-trees/bitternut-hickory#:~:text=Description,wood%20is%20used%20for%20tools.

    OWB Early Fall Question

This is an easy problem to solve on a Hardy. Let your ash build up so its very close to the bottom of the grates. This will keep the coals close to the wood and the coals stay hot resting in the ash. Don't empty your ash and all will be fine.

Bug ID Keep Finding in Oak

Hello everyone... I have been seeing this bug throughout the summer. Seems to like oak splits. I looked online for pictures of the Asian Longhorn Beetle (ALB) and there are some differences. The ALB has distinctive white spots on its body and doesn't seem to have the appendage on its tail...

    SSHD vs snow

From my experiences the SS doesn't like working in the rain and definitely in the snow. The top bearing gums up, freezes up, seizes up. My best successes have been simply keeping the top beam clean and dry and hit the bearings with heavy spray lube each use.

    Fiskars Hookaroon

I use one on my F150 8' bed. Works awesome. Best $30 I have ever spent. Only thing with firewood you have to pull the logs from behind the wheel wells. I can unload a bed full of mulch in about 15 seconds.

    Firewood Identification

Looks like Maple. Does it split?

    Wood ID ? Not firewood....

Difficult to tell. The first thing that comes to mind is Sycamore. They get those bumps and knots on them...they like to grow close to the creek bed and they get a patchy bark, almost looks like camouflage. Thanks

    PackFix hydro by Posch

Great Post! Short answer...lol I too work by myself except for a couple HS kids who I pay to stack. I was looking at a single barrel from Northeast for a little under $10k. It that the Posch's advantages over bags is what you said, the machine will have value after 5 years when all the bags...

    Hardy H2 water loss

Your Hardy holds approx 100 gallons of water. When you are looking down into the hole and if you can see a stainless steel "floor" that is the top of the firebox. The water tank surrounds the firebox. If you can see water your Hardy still has A LOT of water in it. To avoid damage you should...

    Hardy H2 water loss

Forgive me... I must ask some questions to make sure I am understanding the situation. 1. When you remove the condenser stack from from the top of the Hardy...you look down into the hole... can you see water? 1b. When you believe that your water level has dropped, can you still see...

    Need a wood ID please

Looks like Pine. The growth rings are awfully wide for hardwood.
