    Sad Email

Really, so the new X-torg is the same as the "classic" 372, that is basically a legend. Same power to weight, etc. I'm sure you have plenty of X-Torqs, the email I'm talking about is referring to the 372XPW, not an X-Touqs. I have an X-Torq saw, it sits in the truck most of the time.

    Sad Email

I got a sad email today from Bailey's today, saying that the Husky 372 is finally done and they are closing out the last of their 372 inventory and that many of the dealers across the country are out or running low, a sad day. I bought one two years ago on the advice of many on this forum and...

    576xp or ms441?

I don't know about either the 576 or the 441. I took the advice of the guys on here and got a 372xp. Was cutting Red Oak with it this weekend and that saw flat rips. I have used the saw a lot on Tamarack (lodgepole pine) and it rips through that stuff, wasn't sure how it would do on oak. However...

"Who taught you how to cut" thread

I was lucky I guess, or maybe not. I grew up on the outskirts of Seattle, which back then was the sticks, now it is yuppie-ville. Anyway, my best friends dad was in charge of a group of fallers for Weyerhauser, this is when Weyerhauserwhen was going great guns in late 70's. Anyway, we wanted...

Wench for log skidding and etc

Sorry about the mis-spelling. I was into my 3rd or 4th eggnog and my spelling had taken a hit. LOL Anyway thanks for the info. I'm now going to start looking at good grill guard with a receiver in the back and front, sound possibly like a more useful setup in the long run. The amount of...

Wench for log skidding and etc

Ok, thinking about putting a brush guard and wench setup on my F250 and have been looking at the warn transformer brush guard, with at warn 12Ti. I would use this for pulling trees out of the brush for firewood and for also getting my happy a$$ out of the occasional Tahoe snowbank. I have...

    Pacific Energy Summit

I have one also, great stove. Like someone else said it takes a little time to get used to how it burns. I tend to let it get really going before I choke it down at all.

    Northern CA firewood question

Hey Moosedog, I live in the Sierra and I burn lodgepole mixed with almond and oak. If you have time look through the adds in Redding or Chico or even Medford/Ashland area and see if people have oak rounds for sale. I have found I can get a couple of truck loads out of the foothills for a good...

    372 is a gas hog

Evan, Is that Lodgepole you are cutting?? I thought I saw some of that in there. Anyway, I have a 372 and when I cut standing dead lodgepole I tend to go through more a lot more gas then if I'm cutting something like the piss fir. I bucked up some white fir for a neighbor not too long ago and...

    Pulled the trigger - 372XPW

Congrats on a great saw, I pulled the trigger on one this spring and they are awesome saws. I have a 455 Rancher and I rarely if ever break it out anymore, no need the 372 is great all around saw. Wait until you get 10 or so tanks through it, then it really comes to life. Like someone said on...

Time for a new wood hauler! Input PLEASE.

If that is the type of truck you like I would look for a used one. Good ones are out there. That being said I have had a 1999 F250 powerstroke and I currently drive a '08 F250 Powerstroke. I'm getting 16 mpg with the new one, I got 18-19 with the old one. However it looks like the more I...

    Bee Careful?

Several years ago, we got a cold snap in late Sept. Couple inches of snow and 15 degree morning temps. My wood cutting buddy and I head out to get some more firewood. I dropped a tree right on top of a yellow jacket ground nest. My buddy starts yelling, I'm trying to run as fast as I can over...

    Firewood Drying Times

I disagree, I cut a standing dead Tamarack Pine today, that had no water in in it and I could burn today if I needed to. Depends where you live. As for the drying time on the Fir, 6 months was my ball park guess, but wanted some input.

    Firewood Drying Times

Hey, looking for some input as to how long it will take some White Fir to dry out for firewood. I usually cut standing dead, so this tree is causing me to wonder about drying times. Now I'm not a big fan of White (piss) Fir, but the tree was removed by my buddy who runs a tree business and...
