What are you building with your milled wood? merged

No dehumidifier, it's heated and air is circulated by solar power only. I've only done one load so far and it was air dried down to 15%-20% moisture before it went into the kiln. Took another 6 weeks to get it down to 7%, but that's Tulip Poplar. Oak would take significantly longer. It all...

10' right now, which is the max log length for my LT10. I'll probably build another one to handle 16' boards after I get a bed extension for the mill.

What are you building with your milled wood? merged

My first project was this kiln which I finished up in July. I'm currently working on a run-in shed for our horses and will post pics when done. Next project is to plane down the load of Tulip Poplar in the kiln and put up a wood ceiling in the living room, but I won't be starting that till after...

    Recommendations for OWB

+1 Five year here with no problems. Power conduit to the door fan broke one really cold day and Hawken sent me a new one before I even let them know it had broken. Must have been a common problem, but that has been it.

    whats everyone burning right now?

Mostly Beech. It's good enough to burn year round, but I'm holding the Hickory in reserve.

    Just can't get wound up...

Since I can dress for the cold, winter is the time I prefer to get wood. My goal every year is to cut a little more than I burn. I should be somewhere near 4 years worth now and I finding it hard to find places to store it. It's like money in the bank!

How did I live without this tool?

I have both the Peavy brand and a Logrite. They both work well for moving logs around, but the Peavy hook "sticks" in the log better if I want it to, probably because it's heavier. It sticks well enough in endgrain that I can pick a log up with it if I want to and then comes out with a twist. I...

    Wood burning tool invention

I burn in an OWB so mess is no issue, and I pull out more coals than I would like so I am intrigued by the idea. If it were priced in the $35-40 range I would probably not be able resist buying one to try.
