    Spot on.

is there something wrong w/ this chain?

That chain has a high kick back risk, definately not safe.

    441

If stihl do make a 461, Id be the first to buy one!!! that and a 661!!!

best of the best 70cc saws

In terms of time proven reliability the 372. Otherwise the 441, personally i prefer the balance of the 441 to the 372 hence I own a 441. As i said in the 441 thread, I dont think the comparison of the heavyer yet tourqyer 575 to the 440/441/372 is a fair one.

    441

As you can see from my sig, I also run a 575 and have had it 18 months. The 575 has a bit more tourq with the 28" bar, however it seems to cut a bit slower at low revs compared to the 441. In the hand the 575 feels a bit awkward and isn't the nicest saw to use all day, Vibes and fuel usage...

Safety Helmet Visor, Mesh or Solid?

I wear a husqy helmet with a polycarbonate visor, 90% of the time i have the visor up, only lowering it if the chips are getting blown onto my face badly and I'm not wearing sunglasses. The polycarb visor does scratch so i change it every couple of months and wipe it off at the end of...

    441

Ive been running my 441 daily for the last three months. In honhesty I can fault it, Nicely balanced, very low vibes, low fuel consumption and realativly 'nippy'. Im running a 25" bar on it at the moment and it pulls it well Id happily buy another or recomend it.

Split tree, Way beyond my capability to fell.

Thanks all for a fascinating read. I would probably have left it myself as well. However having taken the benefit of the combined advice, hyperthetically Id have strapped it, set a pull line, then cut a shallow face and made a bore cut leaving a good hindge then a winch pull to break...

    Stihl Backpack Brushcutter

I like the FS85, totally bulletproof.

    Stihl Backpack Brushcutter

The genuine stihl back pack ones are alright, Ive used them without issue. Personally though for most slopes, with the harness set right Ive always found a FS400 or similar to be perfectly comfortable. 18 months ago I bought the husky trio balance harness and 345RX the combination when...

    AOD needs a BIG saw!

For three or four trees id save the money and use the 575 with 28". I run a 575 and can atest that as long as you keep it sharp it will get there steadilly in big wood. IMO better to save the money for a while longer then if you really want it buy a brand new 595 or 660.

Run her wide open or baby it?

On a small ish saw I like to stick on a small bar and use for limbing for the first four tanks, Ill take it up to full revs but not hold it at them as with felling or bucking.

New dangerous ways to cut wood

Looks intresting, Id be intrested to see a vid of it cutting

361 or 441 to go with the ms260

Id swap for the 441. The light vibes make it a very usefull saw and importantly comfortable to use all day. The weight is no real issue if you are fit and if not youll soon get fit. A 70cc saw will cut anything youll want to throw at it in terms of firewood and day to day felling. Your...

    Husqvarna XP 2-Stroke Professional Oil

I run mine on Husqy XP, both the stihls and the husqys. The XP oil burns clean and the saws run smothly, a marked differance between the XP and standard stihl 2 stroke. (I run on 50-1)

For a small saw once its runing properly yo wont regret spending the money on the 260.

What is your dream old saw?

For me a contra, a legendary saw and one Ive always wanted. There was a very clean one on the shelf of the farm I used to work at for the five years I worked there, covered in cobwebs and belonged to the guys father. Sadly the bloke s old man would never part with it nor let anyone else...

    Best Chainsaw

260 followed by 372 Both reliable, light and easy to work on and use. For low money the 260 is the best saw Ive ever had and one i regret selling. My 575 and 441 are nice as modern saws but they are heavyer and more complicated.

Need more power for Osage Orange!

Good choice i rekon. 660 would be overkill as a two saw duo.

    Who does hedge trimming?

From a Uk stand point, I do a lot and make good money from it, with the right kit its very easy and I can get a good price. Boring but I get a lot of regular tree work from it I use a combination of Echo HC3142 single sider, Stihl pole HL75 and a HT75 pole saw with the HL75 head. With...
