    Files

since we're on the topic... How many sharpenings do you guys get out a file? I know there are lots of variables that affect the answer to that question, but since sharpening with files now(instead of the dremel) I get great results but sure seem to use the files up quickly!

McCulloch 250 Help E-Bay Special Wasn't So Special

Benzie ! Hey Aaron, no help here w/ your saw project--sounds like you got that covered! I get to spend a good part of the summer in Benzie (my wife and kids and I help manage/host at a little resort near Lake Ann.) Love it up there! Wish I could cut my firewood up there and bring it back...

    just bought a new ms290FB.

I'm still trying to picture someone attempting to take a brand new saw on a plane (Yeah--dumb idea for sure, but...) and then just leaving it there b/c he can't take it on board. I mean, I had a pocketknife that I forgot about, and was able to pick it up later. You'd think the same could be...

Dang, Tillotson/Homelite has me stumped and mad!

8800--only runs well at 1/4 out. Glad to read this thread today. I'm a rookie saw mechanic, but I've been messing w/ a Homelite 8800 that I bought at a going-out-of-business pawn shop last week. The saw seems perfect, but I can only get it to run strongly at about 1/4 to 1/3 out. I'm worried...

    Homelite 8800--carb settings?

Hey all, I took the muffler off the Homelite and the piston looks shiny and new. This thing really can't have been used for more than a few hours. Before that I ran it a bit, cut a few logs, but couldn't seem to get it idling and revving just right. Does anyone know what the factory settings...

Homelite 8800, do I need one?

Picked this up today! I put some fresh gas in and it started on the 2nd pull. Seems to run well--a bit smokier and hotter than I'm used to. Probably needs some tuning.

Homelite 8800, do I need one?

Homelite 8800, do I need one? Pics Now! Okay, so I'm sort of in the market for a bigger saw. (Have an ms260 and cut 7 or 8 cords of firewood each year.) I don't really need it, but it would be nice for the occasional bigger tree and noodling some gnarly elm rounds and such. Today I stopped...

    The Homelite 540/8800 Thread

8800...worth how much? stopped by a couple of pawn shops today and saw an 8800. Stumbled on this thread this evening--and nowhere has anyone said what they are worth. The one I saw looked super nice, though I didn't start it or even look at anything closely. They had a $325 price tag on it.

Yet another 026 muffler thread....never seen one like this??!

math... "divide the circumference by 2 to get the radius" huh? how about: divide the circumference by pi to get the diameter. then divide by 2 if you want the radius.

    Toyota wood hauler?

pinyon, juniper/cedar, and we're also allowed to cut down and dead standing oak as long as it amounts to 25% or less of a load--that's on the regualr $20, 2 month, 5 cord permit. Next year I'm going to also get an oak permit--I think it's for 2 cords, not sure of the price. I found lots of...

Hey Mike, I'm from Rehoboth--just East of Gallup. Pic is from national forest just southeast of Gallup. Kind of a muddy a.m. back in Nov.--mud thawed and I almost didn't get out of there.
