    Fuel lines and trimmers..

This. I have an FS110 that has fuel in it every day of the year, and has for 4 years now. It sits for 6 months out of the year, I may start it now and then depending on my mood but nothing with regularity. The only thing I have done to it is add fuel, squeeze throttle and repeat. I should...

    Attracts moisture!?

I grew tired of searching yesterday. From what I could find there does not appear to be any indication that Stabil will attract moisture. As I said before, I can find good gas so not to concerned with storing for a few months without additives. I do like to add Stabil before winter to all my...

    Attracts moisture!?

Just returned from the Stihl dealer, bought an FC 95 Edger. Anyway, talking to the sales guy he tells me that the red Stabil attracts moisture and I should be using the marine grade Stabil. I have never heard this before. I add stabil to my mixed gas and straight gas in the fall to store...

I found a use for cookies

Hmmm, seems kind of wasteful to me. Those are nice firestarters or, as I like to use them, great for chimnea burns. Personally I use plywood scraps form my targets, they really stand-up to repeated shots unless its the 12 gauge. I have shot at cookies and they are pretty much done after a...

Handle choice for Stihl FS 250 trimmer (FS 250 vs. FS 250R)

Sorry fat, I doubt it will be a "cheap" conversion. You will need the complete throttle control and cable to convert to a D-loop, not to mention the handle. I tried to convert mine the other way and it was near $300 for the parts. Good luck.

Handle choice for Stihl FS 250 trimmer (FS 250 vs. FS 250R)

I have run both extensively, FS110R and FS85. For flat areas and slight incline, bike handle. For steep hillsides and lots of obstacles, D-loop. The D-loop can do pretty much the same duties as the bike handle, vice-versa, not so much. For a saw blade application you can't beat bike handle...

    It starts and runs

I am sure my results would not be good. I feel pretty fortunate to have relatively easy access to good fuel. I hiked 7 miles through 3 feet of snow to get to my cutting area last week, going to be another month before I can drive in and actually cut some wood.

    Help Honda GX 340

Purrs like a kitten Got it running today. Pulled the carb and removed the bowl. Located the main jet and was able to get it out, completely plugged with some nasty black stuff. Cleaned everything up, reassembled, two pulls and she was running. A couple coughs and then idled right out. My...

    Help Honda GX 340

It is not electric start. My plan Friday is to take the solenoid out and remove the plunger by grinding/cutting it off. And to go through the carb again and actually remove the float and main jet. I will most likely go through the carb first and then if that fails to remedy the issue I will...

    Help Honda GX 340

If it was mine it would be fixed already. On second thought, if it was mine we wouldnt be talking about it because I wouldnt leave gas in it for 5 years. I hate the smell of stale gas.

    Help Honda GX 340

Yeah, I found a carby on amazon for under $40. Tried convincing my 82 year old neighbor that we should go that route to no avail. I will get back to it on Friday and pull the carb apart again.

    It starts and runs

Pulled my MS362 out of the storage building yesterday, 3 pulls and it popped, two more and it was running. Let it idle for a minute or two to warm up and then cut 1/3 cord or tamarack. The saw has been sitting since November full of fuel and oil in an unheated building. This is how I have...

    Help Honda GX 340

Thanks for the responses. I had the bowl off but did not remove the float, is that where I will find the jet? I did find, after posting here, that the solenoid is an anti-dieseling device so doubtful that is the issue. Plus it was a bit crudded up but did seem to move freely when I pushed or...

    Help Honda GX 340

I am helping my neighbor with this project to get his generator running and failing so far. Saturday I spent a couple hours cleaning the tank of 5 year old gas, fuel lines are all good. Pulled the carb and disassembled as much as I could, cleaned it up, installed a couple new o-rings and put...

Another Ethanol thread - Washington State

Ouch Sorry to hear about that for sure. I am just over the line in Idaho and we have 2 or 3 stations close by with non-eth. There is also a small town, population under 1000, north of me about 25 miles with non-eth.

Bar oilers: Too much? Too little? Just right?

Try slinging some oil on a piece of cardboard, easier to see than on a stump or end of a log.

    Name your frustrations during repairs

I hate small flying parts(circlips and springs). After losing a few I now will place a clear bag over my work piece and work inside the bag, contains pretty much anything that wants to fly away. Working on anything after hours, you will invariably break, lose or need something and now the...

    So now what ?

Given the fact that it sat back tells me that is the direction it wanted to go to start with. Chances are now that it wants to fall that direction even more so, not much chance of changing that now by simply cutting and wedging it back over. To change the direction you will need the aid of...

Cheap way to stand up the new chain grinder???

Attach the grinder to some sort of board and then clamp that board with the grinder to your bench. 2 or 3 of those quick grip clamps should work I would think.
