Bottom piece is the back with the ring and it could happen again as there is not much holding the front and back together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rip 540xp

Wow never thought this would generate so much mean heartedness. My skin is thicker than a 120' cottonwood and I use a lanyard all the time, just makes sense why wouldn't you. I like both saws for different reasons the husky for chain speed the stihl for torque. Sorry it took me so long to reply...

    Rip 540xp

Chain speed was great and to be honest just a lapse in concentration on my part cost me a bunch. I did have to drag the 201 up from ground duty[emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Very well, it is a great cutting saw that is very comfortable to use. I'm am just shocked it got ripped in half the pull was not that hard or so I thought. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rip 540xp

My 540 got caught in the kerf of a big cottonwood top so I let it go, got a good tug on the lanyard , but not enough to be alarmed. To my surprise half my saw was headed for the ground and half was connected to the lanyard, bummer. Not sure on repair it ripped wires and a cable apart, part of...

    New saw

I like the saw so far, although I did have a kill switch issue and had to take the saw Handle apart to fix it. It seems that the switch got some gunk in it and was not going forward enough. My cold eye appraisal is that the throttle linkage is fragile compared to the stihl ,and when you take the...

    New saw

So I have been using the husky 540 for a couple of months now, and here are some observations. This saw cuts fast on limbs and smaller wood. The saw works quite well in green wood up to16". I do think the muffler moded 201 has a little more torque but the chain speed is slower. My only complaint...

    Husky 540 Xp

First thing I did was change the chain the second was pulling the screen. I have used the 540 on aspen, dry dead maple, white oak and spruce, so far it cuts real well and I am happy with the purchase can't say the same on the stock 201. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Husky 540 Xp

I own a couple 192's and although they are good little saws after using a muffler moded 201 and the new 540xp I would be hard pressed to take a 192 back up a tree. That new husky and the modified 201 are way higher production saws. The 192 stays by the chipper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Husky 540 Xp

Reg what do you like about the husky over the modified stihl. So I guess I should have watched the whole thing as you pointed out some likes. I am with you on the chain speed it's real good and power is good too.I never used the stock chain and will be switching from the Oregon to a stihl 3/8...

    Slaughtered Trees

I hear ya and absolutely understand the need, I would prefer to see the city take out the tree completely and replant something hight friendly that is fast growing. It seems this type thing is always so short sighted with very little planning. There are more options than leaving butchered trees...

Trees Ink has come into town to do line clearance work and WOW is all I can say. Must be low bidder cause I haven't seen Davey and they were doing most of that work here. I understand that there are guidelines and beautification does not apply but damn I saw some ugly stuff. I will try to get...
