Stihl being sold in box stores now.

Our grocery store carrys a fair amount of Stihl saws. Better selection that the local Stihl/Husky dealer. Prices seem to be msrp less any current factory incentives. Honey… I’m going to the grocery store for milk and eggs. Ok if I pick up a new saw? Actually, they have a fairly good...

    STIHL Vs HUSKY and WHY???

I’m a Husky guy at heart, but Stihls keep falling into my lap, and now outnumber Husky’s 5:1 in my shed. Not sure how I let that happen, though.

    Chinese carbs... my experience

I have used maybe a half dozen Chinese carbs, and a few kits without issue. Remember that sometimes the Oem carb isn’t easily rebuildable, like the one on a scored saw I did a few years ago. The throttle shaft was worn badly enough that it sucked air and leaned out the mixture.

    Rate your Chinese chain saw?

I bought a Chinese made RY10532 Reman when they were a hot topic here a number of years ago. They were going for around $100 at the time, and all seemed to have a fuel hose that was either too long or too short, I don’t remember which, inhibiting fuel pickup. An easy fix. I’ve been using that...

Used splitter is it worth it

I have a similar splitter, except it was built in 1985 by a now defunct company whose name I forgot. Paid $400 about ten years ago. The 8 hp Briggs burns oil, but stats on the second pull after sitting for a year. Changed the hydraulic oil once, along with the engine oil, and it got a new...

Need help identify a Huss log splitter

Did a couple more searches, and found threads on Huss splitters on this site, Tractorby net, and Yesterdaystractors. When searching the web it often helps to try different word combinations, for example Huss sales, or Huss splitters, Huss logsplitters, etc.

compact tractor versus mini skid steer

4wd is indispensable on my 3000 + lb Kioti in the snow and on soft ground, and even when box blading a gravel drive. The only time I don’t engage the front axle is when transporting on a hard gravel or asphalt surface. This is a 40 hp tractor. These smaller, nimble tractors need front assist...

compact tractor versus mini skid steer

I was at one of the major equipment manufacturers customer product center earlier this week, looking at tracked loaders (CTLs). They had pretty much one of each product model they make, from skid steers to road graders , to vibratory rollers available for evaluation in the dirt. Got to talking...

compact tractor versus mini skid steer

I had a skid steer but sold it when I bought a Kioti ck 4010 se with a cab. I like the tractor, but am now in the process of buying a CTL. The tractor is great for a front mounted snow blower, but loader or fork work capability is poor compared to a ck I.D. steer. Visibility (can’t see the...

Need help identify a Huss log splitter

I have a similar Huss. Same color with an 8 or so hp Briggs flathead. I googled Huss about five or more years ago, and, from memory, found they were a Toledo based manufacturer, and built splitters in the mid 80s. You should do a search to verify that info, though. The pump was an off the...

    Compact or sub compact tractor?

Another vote for the Kioti. I sold my skidsteer and bought a Kioti CK 4010 hst with a cab. The skid steer was great for dirt work and moving pallets and firewood, but sucked for snow removal and general winter operation because it couldn’t handle ice and any kind of hill or crown on the...

    Runnin' Loads

Comet had a 200 or 250 six, if not a 170 or possibly a 144. The 300 was never available in the Comet or other small Ford products. The 300 six was exclusively a truck or industrial engine and was a different family than the small six cylinder family. The 300 did have a smaller displacement...

Want to Buy Ryobi10532 Shutoff Switch

These saws were popular on this site in ~ 2010. I picked one up back then, but the shutoff grounding switch has failed. There is essentially no parts support for this orphan, but before I rig a toggle switch, does anyone hav a switch or source for one?

How much did you spend on free saw?

$418 on a MS460 Stihl that I bought for$5.00. It runs great now.

    WTB Homelite 340 kill switch

    Still no spark. Thanks

    WTB Homelite 340 kill switch

Am I right in assuming that the switch meerly grounds the ignition on the 340 when switched to "off"? I've got a 340 parts saw and the smaller displacement 290, both with no spark (again). If the switch grounds to stop, I can eliminate that as being the problem.

    Small Saw Fun

Sounds like the target market of the Rancher series is exactly what you intend to do with a saw. You aren't a logger or professional arborist, and your saw probably won't see over 20 hours of actual run time per year. My old Husky 55 Rancher and Stihl 029 Super are actually overkill for most...

Solo 647 worth putting some money into it?

It's the same saw as the Homelite 290/340. I've got a 290, my first saw, which I bought from the warehouse outside of Chicago as a refurb. The thing was unreliable, to say the least. Ignitions are a problem, and the carb loosens up because the soft oem gasket takes a compression set after a...

    Sold Poulan 3800 Good Shape

I've got a similar 3800 and would recommend it as a firewood saw. Mine cuts as well as my Husky 55 Rancher. RPMs seem a little lower but has more torque. Solid firewood saw.

    MS460: What next?

It's a Sthil bar. The only time I ran into this on another saw, it was because the roller / bearing at the tip was worn out, probably because I had to cut up a tree that had fallen into the lake in front of the dock. I'll disassemble the tensioner partially to make sure there is no debris...
