    Wood Hauler Pics

I just looked and wow! It has been over a year since I've come around. A lot has happened in that time! I wore out the truck in my profile pic and could have patched it up but decided to upgrade my hauler. In Sept I bought a new to me 95 F350 crew cab dually flat bed. Major upgrade! Now I got...

    Penny Pinchers Corner..post your uglies!

I cut off of dozer piles, plenty of uglies from twisted and broken trees. I just put it on the pile with the other stuff or down in between the rows if it will fit. My wife has a fetish for scraps that will make good kindling ...I have enuff of this stuff to heat my place for a week... she...

Post pictures of your woodpile/splitting area

woodshed I built from scrap wood and left overs from roofing the house in 09. I had to buy one sheet of plywood to finish it off and I tarp the opening. I use half the barn for wood ( all the way to the rafters ) the other half holds splitter, tree stands and a motorcycle I picked up last...

    Wood ID Referance

Could be. I'm not real familiar with black locust, most around here are the thorny or honey with the great big thorns on them. Thanks for the help. The only other clue I forgot to give you all is it splits like hedge, stringy like. Sounds like I made a good find.

    Wood ID Referance

I've been cutting off of dozer piles for the last few years and I've become pretty good about calling what I'm cutting. But I found this stuff on the back side of a pile ( lots of it too ) and I have no clue to what it is. It is hell on chain, yellow tinted but not as dark as hedge or mulberry...

anyone ever modify their splitter to travel better?

I like that!! not only does it make takin the splitter with you easier, you have a place to put your saws when you fill the truck up too full!

Alright.. Fess up.. Who's NOT ready?

I'm way behind too. Cut my first load yesterday. I don't use much wood, but one truck load is not near enough. My new job keeps me pretty busy so I took vacation this weekend so I could cut. Day 1, helped friend move LOL no wood cuttin. Day 2 cut wood, found out clutch is slippin on the way...

anyone ever modify their splitter to travel better?

Just wondering if anyone has ever modded their store bought splitter with larger tires or wider axles to make it more road friendly. Honestly these things come from the store set up just barely good enough to make it home !

Bucking spike length deduct from bar length?

I went with a 24" on my Kita 6401 due to the big azz spikes on that thing. If I had the 7901 I would have gone 28".

Chainsaw game when you can't cut..have fun!

    muffler mods?

you can mod your muffler without any special tools if you just get creative. my first mod was on a WildThing. I did have a friend braise the original openings closed but I didn't need to go that way, just something I wanted to do. My John Deere I modded without any welding, but think it thru...

Is red worth ?75 more than blue?

My signature use to say " I don't do orange " can't remember why I changed it but I've never owned an orange saw other than a project that I traded for a bar and some chains to fit the Blue

Is red worth ?75 more than blue?

no need to go that big if you don't need it, mine is a back up saw and only gets used on really big stuff ( 24" bar ) or if I need to rescue my go to saw from a pinch. The 6400 has good power but sure is heavy, my go to is a John Deere CS56 which is just a green Efco. This has nothing to do...

Is red worth ?75 more than blue?

yeah if its the same go blue all parts are the same as far as I know. Wish I could find a Blue 7900 !! I've heard of some 7300's here in the state but mostly just the 6400 until you go to the smaller saws.
