    Dogwood Tree?

I'm getting a large Dogwood tree cut down in my yard. There's not a straight branch, or trunk on the thing. Is it worth trying to cut into firewood size, and split it? How easy does Dogwood split? It's going to be knotty as heck.. The main trunk is only about 3ft high before it starts to split.

    Need Tarp Input

I just use the cheep tarps like you said, I fold the in 1/2 or 3rds and just tarp the very top of the wood pile, to keep the snow & rain off with little over hang so the wind don't blow it off. I just hold it down with a few splits. Works for me anyway's. One day I will build a small roof...

    Dolmar 5100s wont start thread

Ok.. got back in town this week and took a look at the saw today. I tried all kinds of settings on the carb. H all the way in, H all the way out, H in the middle, same with the L screw. I took off the plug to dry out the cylinder in-between changes. I even put in a new plug. I'm pretty much...

    New Chain Sharpener

Good point about the handel, and yes.. a cover (or some kind of protector) for the bit is a must in my eye's. I probably just store it in a old dremel bit tube when not in use. I'll be keeping this tool in my chain saw tool box (a old ammo box) and I'm concerned the bit will get chipped bouncing...

    Dolmar 5100s wont start thread

Good points... I did tune it with a tach in early spring and set it to 12,500 RPM to it would be a tad rich. I have ran it a few time's but like I said it would die after it got hot. As to check for bad coil.. I can't start it so I can't check for that yet.. I may play with the carb and see...

    Dolmar 5100s wont start thread

OK.. Like it says, my 5100s wont crank over. I've been having some problems with it shutting off when it gets hot, but it will fire back up after several minutes. Now I cant get it to crank over at all, not even a burp. Tried different plugs, Comp at 150psi, getting gas, good spark...

Oh… I see you’re from the KY state. I have a lot of KY jokes, just can’t post them here, but they all have to do with kissing cousin’s, taking your sister to the prom, and teaching your daughter’s how to French kiss. :msp_biggrin:

Looking at Fish's pic's he also got a wrench, but it came packaged with his extra carbide guides. Was your wrench with the extra cutter you ordered? I didn't order anything extra,( I should have) just the tool with 30* guides, and one cutter 7/32.

    New Chain Sharpener

Got mine today.. Took about 4 days to ship to SW Indiana. Kinda of a pain getting the handle w/bit installed back into the small front pocket, very tight fit, may just have to remove the bit when not in uses. Also would have also liked to have seen some allen wrench's with the package to keep in...

How much fuel does your splitter use?

It takes me about 2 full tanks of gas (1.5 liters, .396 gal) to split around a 1/2 cord of wood. Took about 2hr with a few beer breaks for some stringy, and knotty hickory wood. I have a Swisher 22 ton with a 8.75 briggs.
