What did you buy yourself today?

Eight tooth rim sprocket for MS441.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Used ones are $500. I like my FNX with 16 rounds, though. I want to buy a Glock and convert it to 460 Rowland.

    Seasoning Firewood In Winter

Yes. Mostly burn ash and locust any more. If I had access to enough, all I would burn is locust. I have a bunch of ash right now and 1 trunk worth of locust.

    Seasoning Firewood In Winter

I think my wood dries faster in winter. Ash dries about as fast as any wood I have seen.

Anyone ever rebuild a Haldex 2 stage pump?

The videos that I watched, I don’t think there IS a gasket. Just a spray that they use. If you have the time, playing with it isn’t going to cost much.

Anyone ever rebuild a Haldex 2 stage pump?

I have watched videos on YouTube of them being rebuilt. Seems there is a copper spray you can use.

I wonder if the OP ever got it going....

    thinking of new saw

All of my saws are 3/8. I think I might run .325 on the 026 for a while since that’s how it came and have a couple of good chains. Changing back and forth only takes a minute.

    thinking of new saw

One thing I like is having all the saws be able to swap bars. Makes things easier when one of them is being a PIA.

    thinking of new saw

Yeah, my first saw. It was the 42 cc wild thing. I think it was $100 and it really cut! I could bury the 18 inch bar and fly. I got every penny and then some out of it and still got $50 when I sold it. Only thing that I didn’t like was the terrible vibration!

20" bar on an 026. Yay or Nay?

My MS260 came with a 20 inch rescue bar. I put a 16 on it but it runs the 20 with no problem if I run it right. It feels and cuts better with the 16, though.

    thinking of new saw

I had an Ms 390 and a wild thing at one time. I realized that the smaller saw was better for trimming so I ended up getting an ms 260. Now I have 2 that size and I run them almost all the time with 16 or 20 inch bars. I have been thinking about selling one and getting an ms 361 for a great three...

New 16 gpm pump issues on a wood splitter

It’s the pump for sure. Mine is 11 gpm and I was hitting 3000 before running out of rope.

New 16 gpm pump issues on a wood splitter

Don't get too excited until you do the test on the output. I just about drove myself crazy because I needed to get some splitting done and money was a big issue. I ended up spending almost $300 in testing and parts and I still need to buy more oil as I lost plenty replacing things.

New 16 gpm pump issues on a wood splitter

I just pulled fairly slow, I don't think it would start anyway as the pressure jumps up really fast. Pressure relieved itself. I had used a male quick disconnect just in case it didn't.

New 16 gpm pump issues on a wood splitter

I was recently having the same issue. I could only get about 500 psi unless I held the cylinder against the detent. Doing that, I could get about 1700 psi. Turned out that my cylinder was bad. I ended up testing the pump by capping the line with the gauge in it. I slowly pulled the motor over...

Anyone else fired up their woodstove yet?

Found out why the power bill has been so high, I left the water heater on. Probably only thing that saved it.

Anyone else fired up their woodstove yet?

First fire last night. Felt nice! Got down to 19 here and 11 where my nonwinterized camper is. Oooops!

Planning on replacing engine on log splitter

I will say that I used a hand screw jack with nearly no effort to move the cylinder towards retracted position and I could hear a sucking sound as I did. Cylinder did not leak oil. Hoses and oil all were in good shape and valve was already replaced with no change in symptoms. I had checked pump...
