    How Big is Too Big

A couple of tree companies I hooked up with won't keep anything over 18" diameter and they call me. I feel it is well worth the time going ofter the big rounds...espially with red oak which is about the best and easiest wood to split. whack from the ends and make your way to the middle is what...

For y'alls viewing displeasure. A Black Birch

Yea but nothing bad; they know my kids. My son and daughter decorates my truck all the time too. Their favorite is washing all the mud off of the truck and trailer though!

For y'alls viewing displeasure. A Black Birch

Well I have to admit my daughter got a hold of my safety helmet and now I do have a few hello kitty stickers on it.

    Locust

I've dug out BL pieces out of the mulch pile a few years old and it is as solid as the day the people threw it in there to "rot". It's damn fine stuff to burn. Again; I am glad the people at my local landfill throw it out thinking it's junk wood.

Well, now I have to deal with competition when wood scrounging

Riverhead offers Free Firewood Day to residents The Jig is Up. There goes my little personal clean relatively easy scrounging places that I frequent every weekend. For all the yard stuff I bring there; Imust take out easily 3 times as much in firewood. Seriously tho; I still can't figure out...

The sweet stench of red oak

Ah, the sweet sweet smell of cat piss and citronella. I haven't had any red oak in the yard in a few years now...just stinky Black Locust which in it's own right smells like cat piss and a old gym locker.

    Another poison ivy thread

Yup...grandparents always had that on hand for us little kids when we used to play on their farm and come home "itchy". Just the smell of it alone reminds me of there. To the original poster; sorry you got hit bad with Poison Ivy. I'm battling the stuff myself.

wood score with possible poison ivy - advice?

Week 2 of getting this big ol' Cherry tree out of the Poison Ivy. Seems 95% Bleach really knocks down the stuff quite well.

Ariens Log Splitters with Subaru engine

Sounds like parts on my Kawasaki FB460v engine on my Scag Mower. I got no complaints on that engine except for god forbid you need to replace something.

    Timberwolf parts

You can call up Timberwolf directly and they could sort you out. Buddy of mine got a used TW-7 and needed some specs on it and they were extremely helpful.

    I made a mistake

Besides pulling the starting string out of my little MS250 EZstart the first time I tried starting it - i've never had an issue getting it running from any point going forward. I'd bring your saw back where you got it and see if it is just a bum saw and getting it straightened out on their...

    Can firewood be too dry?

Yeah; and even my own personal store of wood chips for the smoker I soak in a pail a day or two before using. For firewood for heating the house tho I don't think you want the same effect.

    Utility Trailer Size

I am happy with my 6x12 modified car carrying trailer; i took the ramp plates off and threw on some decking, added 18" sides, and a lift off rear gate. Right now it is a single axle but I picked up two 3500# dexter drop axles with EL brakes and will be part of the winter project to finish up...

wood score with possible poison ivy - advice?

I now carry some bleach and water in a spray bottle [i have one of those 1/2 gallon pump sprayers] to spray down arms and hands as soon as possible too just in case. it's like 95% bleach 5% water. Even on the runners you see spray them with some of that bleach as you go. It's no magic bullet but...
