    SRT Technique

Congrats Lumberjack. You are probably the only 'high school age' climber to be working off of SRT. This site has really taught you alot huh? It's amazing how such a simplistic topic can get everyone's hanes in a wad, and wow, TREETX's direct hit at Nick, or Nickrosis, or whatever, da*m, relax...

    Alone

Simple jobs can turn into a PITA when working alone. No ground guide when backing chipper through tight spots, brush accumulation gets outta hand, and as RJ mentioned, you need a person to tend to lifeline. I've done a couple of small jobs alone and both times I wished I would've hired that...

    Silky Zubat replacement

Steven, try finding the Distel here, instead of a web search. RockyJ. has posted a pic of the Distel, c/o Sergio, a few times for newbies. Any question(s) you may have are usually answered by doing a search. TreeCo aint lying about potential elbow trouble in over-using a hand saw. I've had a...

    Heres a good one.

While working ROW I had a lady who would give me $25.00 for every load of chips I would bring her. We were cutting/clearing new R/W in her area, so I ended up taking her around 15 loads during that two weeks. Recently, the entire crew was tipped by an old fella for a job well done....two...

    I could use some help

Who does the trimming for Duke Power, or is it N.C. EMC? I'm sure Pike Electric has crews up that way and I can tell you from experience they are the one of the better ROW companies. I think MB's advice on 'just showin' up' is great, I'll remember that if that day ever comes. Time to get...

What Is The Freakiest Thing that Happened to You In a Tree?

I read this thread about a week ago and thought to myself, "Hmmm, I've never had anything weird happen to me other than the occasional run-in with various wild life in a tree." Well, an old friend/peer of mine asked me to relate to our new climber the story of my stolen dirt bike. Alas! I...

    footlocking

We've been training a new climber at work. This guy learned to FL before he could get the hang of the Pantin. I would think it would be the other way around. I use both, but proabably the Pantin more often (seems that it wastes a 'lil less energy).

    Workshop (Snellville, GA)

The workshop was a success. Large turnout and I'm sure everyone left knowing something they didn't know that morning. Good job, Mark on the speedline demo, oh and great job on that shock load you took. These figures aren't exact, but after a 200lb. piece of wood was shock loaded the reading on...

Looking to buy my fisrt gaffs ?????

Seeing as how you live in MD., I would wait 'till the TCI expo and try on several types/brands. Unless you just have to have 'em now, this would be your best bet.

    Mechanical lanyard adjusters which one

'Biner attached to side D with hitch DFK'd to said 'biner. Mike, are you suggesting I attach cord/hitch directly to side D, omitting the 'biner altogether? I'm fairly new to using advanced lanyards, so if there's a better way I'm all ears.

    Knots

Knot Strength Chart I read somewhere that the square knot has caused more accidents/deaths than any other bend/knot out there. If anyone actually uses this bend please discontinue. Here is a chart of a few knots and their strengths for anyone interested. Does anyone know of a more comprehensive...
