There is aftermarket on those. I have some Hyway ones I ordered a while back that seem to be decent enough. I probably have used a dozen or so in the past few years. It also looks like some suppliers still have stock on the OEM while they last.

If your cylinder is useable, Chainsawr has a decent white box piston. I have seen guys use a 246 piston or modify the cylinder to bottom feed and run an open port 50/500 piston as well. I'm not sure when the case bore changed on that chassis, but on the Husky's it was 87. You can put a 46mm 55...

For the flywheel side screw, pull the kill switch out and go in through the hole with your Allen key. Makes life a bunch easier.

Non HD filter, same as a 268. They did come with them. Piston looks runnable from what I see, it may have some worn skirt rattle though, intake side is the tell for that.

That Makita bar was probably a D009 mount, where the Stihl is a D025. Not sure why you had a hard time finding a 20 in Stihl medium mount?

Just picked this little guy up off of Ebay. Paid almost as much in shipping as I did the saw.... 1975 P50. 50cc, 42mm x 36mm, complete with heated handles. The recoil is a very poor design, but the saw itself is actually quite interesting. It runs quite well as well for a saw I haven't changed...

No 55 is 55cc, they are 53.3 in 46mm trim. Now, a 455, which is a completely unrelated saw, is 55.5.

FWIW, on that chassis, the open port 46mm 55 already is a big bore.

I currently have a 7x14 that belongs to a friend sitting on my bench, it has less useable swing than my ancient Craftsman 109 6x12. I would not want something smaller than an 8" swing on one of those new ones for doing cylinder work. I had a hard time getting enough cross side travel out of it...

While this may not apply to the OP, this is not true up here on the cold side of the border. We haven't had a standard carb MS261 since gen 1. For rear handle pro saws, only the 461 and 881 are available in non M-Tronic.

If it says Stihl on it, someone has put Stihl parts/stickers on it. They don't come that way, and it wouldn't be the first time I havw seen someone badge one like OEM.

Yes, they all use 6202 bearings. Heck, I was out of bearings and put my 50 together in a rush for a trip that never happened on a weekend, and I put in a set I salvaged out of a 266 case.... LOL

Looks like you are missing the screws on those rear upper AV mounts, hard to say what else without seeing it further apart. There really aren't a whole bunch of versions of the 266, most evolutionary changes over the years are not that important when it comes to replacing parts. Coarse thread...
