Buying first new saw, need opinions

I have cut a 24"+ solid Oak with it. As long as it's sharp it will do it OK. It boggs a little if you take it too fast. Trouble is after you get through one cut of that size you have to cool it down and rest it is not a fast operation. Since I have a fair number of trees of that diameter or more...

This Could Be My Last Post!

Can't complain about my wife - she bought me the 441 as a anniversary present! ...Glad I married a country girl that understands the need for good saws. :P

    Stihl 361...to buy or not!

The other saws would work for what you need it for - but if you have a chance to grab a 361 do it. Its a great saw for the power and weight ratio!

    372xp or 575xp or Stihl 441?

The new MS 441 is super sweet - it cuts so smooth now. Nothing like the old mid-large saws that shook till you had no feeling in your hands. Buying first new saw, need opinions

I have used a MS 280 for the past 5 years. It's a great little saw. Strong and reliable. My only complaint was very hardwood over 14" or so takes more work then I like but everything else it is perfect for. I picked up a 441 for the big stuff.

Sound off! Saws we love to hate!

My problem with the Homelite's wasn't the power - it would cut ok but I would be half worn out trying to get it started, it never idled even after a through cleaning.

Sound off! Saws we love to hate!

Hate Homelites! - cept got me so fed up that I finally bought a Stihl. ...agree the MS 290 ain't exceptional. The MS 280 is a good small saw. Love the MS 441 - like driving a fine tuned sports car.

How are the Newer Stihls Holding Up?

I bought a 441 last weekend. I was looking at both the 361 and 441. I went with the bigger saw and I am very pleased with it. Very smooth and powerful. Its a little heavier but it cuts so quick its less tiring to use than the small saw to me.
