Stihl 362 Overheated Today, Boiling Fuel?

You got a few more things to throw in there: - Lowest MW stuff in gasoline will evaporate first. This is usually butane (like a bic lighter butane). And the bp is just below the FREEZING point of water (bp is ~ 30 F). They put it in winter blend gas because it is cheap, but in the summer...

Dolmar PS-420 owners: tune & tach question on your saw

That's what I am asking here :msp_wink: Plug is brand new (just swapped it and new filter at beginning of tune job) By "rich" are you saying to lean out the high? Just turn it CW some more? The spec is 13.5K, so should I try to hit that? Am happy with what the throttle response is...

Dolmar PS-420 owners: tune & tach question on your saw

Background: Last week I was running my PS420. Earlier this year I swapped out the cat muffler for the non-cat factory one, and did a tach-based retune. At that time, I set the RPM ~ 2,800 rpm, adjusted the low speed based on chainsawr instructions (turn CW until runs bad; CCW until runs...

For those with cat mufflers: point of reference

Yeah I know you need SOME in there, that's why I just used the factory non-cat muffler. I was tempted to grind out the louvers behind the spark screen on the new non-cat muffler, but figured I would just keep it "factory" (well, factory outside the borders of the EPA oops I mean USA)

For those with cat mufflers: point of reference

Just thought you folks would be interested in my little "mini-experiment" Finally got around to doing a little work on my Dolmar PS420 (only had the parts for a month or so). Had put ~ 5 tanks through it, and took it back to the shop for a free tune (part of purchase), then decided to swap...

    I got myself a Dolmar 420

Hi Tsunami, Good pics - just to confirm/deny - Are you showing that you can use the 5105 drum on the 420, so long as you also install the shim to keep the drum off the clutch pack?

    I got myself a Dolmar 420

For the OP: What was the P/N on the non-cat muffler? Have looked around on a couple different dolmar parts sites, and they show the thing, but don't give a P/N or price for it - only the cat muffler. Wifey picked one up at the dealer on Valentine's day, and thought it was "cute", so it is...

I want to buy a outdoor wood burner. Any recommendations?

Andy, I can tell you that regulations-wise for us is pretty much non-existent. Being 5 miles from you, I can tell you that the homemade unit at my place smokes a good bit, and the black crown vics with EPA on the side haven't shown up. Might be an issue if you are in downtown Harris next...

Any one in Minnesota do a gtg? I was thinking about having one.

Yeah! Gotta pick up that good cheese at the co-op in Alpha... That place is danger, danger, danger. Andy, judging by your location, I think we are literally less than 3 miles apart. I am west side of 35 (bordering the road) between the overpass and the rush city exit. Off Falcon...

Any one in Minnesota do a gtg? I was thinking about having one.

Andy, If it happens, make sure to post it up! Seeing as I live about 5 minutes (or less depending on where in Harris you are) from you, I would love to stop by and meet some of the AS crew  If you have ever seen the red dually 3rd gen Dodge crew cab diesel with the big ass cow...

Any of you CADs looking to part with a DCS401?

Yeah considering we are talking about an 8" max cut, not really looking for a "hot saw" To me, I really don't care about how something looks, so long as it get the job done well. Ugly saws need love too  Wife does pretty well with cold starting the 6401s, even with the left handed...

Any of you CADs looking to part with a DCS401?

You know, I did take a look at the 339xp, and I have heard good things about them, but the weird "grafted on rear handle" vibe coming off it makes it look awkward. I will admit though I haven't put hands on one. How does it feel when you are holding onto it? is it well balanced? I know as...

Any of you CADs looking to part with a DCS401?

Rush City (halfway between TC and Duluth - Right on I35) How far north are you? I really don't have a saw guy around here. Been fixing whatever I come across. Would be nice to put hands on one (actually to have the wife toss it around, since it would be "her" saw) No real budget...

Any of you CADs looking to part with a DCS401?

Been looking around now for a nice ~40 cc saw for the wife for limbing. When we do firewood, I usually fell with a dolkita 6401, and she limbs while I move to the next tree (safe distance away of course). So she limbs with the other 6401. Problem is, for her it gets heavy quick. And 60cc...

    Cleaning heat exchanger? Something else?

Finished rebuilding the OWB door, and got that mounted up. I am very thankful that the Gods of winter have spared Minnesota for so long :) Attached a few pics. Works very well. Ignore the ugly welds... Considering all I had access to for this was a 4 1/2" grinder, a 1/2" drill and a...

    Cleaning heat exchanger? Something else?

In a water to air exchanger (talking the style that are horizontal in a plenum), if you are pulling the most heat out of it, you would want the inlet on the top, so that as the water is forced through the exchanger with heat being scrubbed off before it gets to the bottom (closest to the fan)...
