    046 Magnum complete.

Now that lawn season has begun, this will likely be my last full saw build till late fall. Started with a clean, older 046 that was put out at the shop in town. Very rare a saw like this shows up. Was missing the clutch drum/parts, muffler cover, bar and chain. Had very light carbon marks on the...

    038 magnum test

Sort of. I used it to cut some dead oak that fell in my woods and it ran great. Today I had a 28” ash stump to lower. I should have put a 25” on it but I just grabbed the saw at 5:30 am as it was and left for work. Dug in just fine. I did a carb swap on it a few months ago and this put a good...

    Hmm Ego on the bench

Looks like **** to me. Maybe I’m missing something with the battery vs gasoline debate. Nothing about this looks appealing. At the shop where I get my “junk” saws they do sell EGO. I guess when these fail they either warranty or the customer buys a new saw. Not much in the way of repair. This...

    I leave no saw behind.

Even a mini Mac. This one looks almost new.

    046 opinions

I got this saw about a year ago. Dirty but not used heavy, looks like a firewood saw rather than a tree guy or production use. Compression feels great. Some slight scoring on ex side. Looks worse in the picture, I couldn’t feel it. Compression is 180psi. Cold no oil. Interesting it came with a...

    0Dirty6 build

I’ve had this poor saw for 4 years or so, got it with a bunch of others. I didn’t know if I’d sell or keep. I knew it had some scoring and was used hard. After my 034 build I had ordered some extra fuel lines and carb kits for that series. Decided to dig into the 036 and make a runner. Saw was...

    036

I’ve had this one for 4-5 years. I bought a set of rings for it and then it sat. The piston is lightly scored, won’t know how bad till I remove the jug. It shows 155psi, a good number especially for a damaged piston. Hopefully the cylinder will clean up. I’ll know more soon. A good cleaning...

    038 mag bridge/trail work

I have lots of work in the back part of my property. I started yesterday. I just finished my 038 mag and I had to test it. A big oak lost a limb and that’s the was the plan for my bridge. Cut to about 9’ pieces, not easy to get into place solo but I made it happen. Also started some trail...

    034 piston failure

I have a couple 034 saws complete but not running. I grabbed this because it’s the most complete. Didn’t look too bad thru the port, had some very light scratches so I pulled it apart. The jug has a couple good scratches that are thru the chrome. A small piece of the piston skirt broke at some...

    Question for the engine builders

I have some light scoring on this 064 I just got. I removed the jug tonight and the cylinder looks good, extremely light transfer I can’t feel it, I will polish it it and it will be fine. The piston has some scoring. The rings are free, can barely feel a line in the middle. I’ve cleaned these up...

    New, to me, 064

I’ve wanted an 064 for a while, finally found one. It’s in good shape, runs well. Someone gutted the muffler and not in a good way so I’ll be replacing that. Also has some light scoring. I can’t feel it with my fingernail but it’s there. I’m going to clean up the jug, see if the piston will too...

Stihl 661 mtronic not pulling fuel

And this is AFTER the mtronic service kit. Runs off a prime then dies. Must be missing something

    038 magnum carb info

At some point someone swapped a chicom carb on this saw and it’s not behaving. It’s flooding, won’t respond to adjustments, the metering lever is plastic, not adjustable. What a POS. Also no part number/manufacturer. Just need the carb info for an 038 Magnum

    Freeing a stuck bar sprocket

I don’t know what a new rollmatic ES costs but they have not gone down in price. This one is in good shape, sprocket is stuck from Rust/lack of use. Figured I’d try some “Release 3” in a can in some hot water in the ultra sonic. Worked well, and ready for use on my 044

    My first chainsaw “mill”

I picked one of these cheap bar guides up just to try. Sure seems simple and rugged enough, precision doesn’t look to be a priority but I’m starting slow so that’s fine. Im planning on using a 661 Mtronic I built last year. Got it from the previous owner who claimed it lost spark. I went ahead...

Haven’t seen one of these in a while

Husqvarna 345. These were rugged homeowner saws. Around here they were liked but because of its size you’d hear “get the 350 or spend some more for a hot rod 346xp”. I don’t remember the price but it couldn’t have been too far from the 350. This one was scheduled for scrap, all I’ve done is give...

    New shop, 3rd hopefully final!

We moved in July. Bigger house, more land. Same town, same neighborhood even. Past few weeks I’ve finally had time to work on the garage. Unpacking, yard work/clearing, then doing the shed. Garage was next. Wife wanted her car in for the winter too. It’s not done and still some stuff that won’t...
