    Stihl 028...thinking about running 3/8"

I switched so I could take the 029 and the 066 to the woods and use the same file. I can keep one in my pocket and touch up the chain if needed no matter what saw I had in my hands. With the ..325 I would have to walk back to the truck and dig through the box to find the right file. Now I just...

    Stihl 028...thinking about running 3/8"

I wouldn't hesitate to switch to 3/8. I switched an 029 to a 3/8 18" from a .325 16" and it cuts great. I did do a slight muffler mod before switching (Of course the 029 has a reputation of being choked off). Plus if you have/can get both rims for the saw you could switch it back easily if you...

    Holy moley

Drill that thing out like Murph's picture, adjust the carb and stand back. Those holes will wake that saw up. I did mine and was very impressed.

    stupidity stories

I was getting ready to weed whack on a busy main highway. The Stihl trimmer I have takes a special starting procedure to start so I start it behind the truck where I don't look like a complete fool getting this thing started. Started fairly easy I shut it off and walk to the road. Hearing...

Almost knocked myself out on Saturday

This may sound crazy but it has worked for me. Go to a chiropractor. I have a messed up neck anyway. Thought I had sinus problems going on complete with sore neck and jaw muscle. Neck was out of whack. A couple snaps and the pain was gone as well as the sinus trouble. May have kinked your neck...

    Hot start issue....Sachs-Dolmar 112

It's a coil issue. When you pull it alot the fins are cooling the coil down. Enough pulls and the coil cools down enough to generate a decent spark. I would change the coil. Just my .02 I have a Husky 40 in the shop now waiting for the coil to get here with the same problem. It would fire on...

    Husqvarna 44 Muffler mod?

You may be overthinking this whole process and making it harder than it is. Plus, every mod is going to need some work, they are not simple drill and run projects. Modding requires some elbow grease and they do get easier with practice.

    Sawyers Behaving Badly..........

While not a logging story nor a fighting story it does have benefits in the laughter department. A few of us Michigan boys went elk hunting in Colorado for a week. The last night of the hunt we packed up and went to the local bar. After drinking the bar out of Coors Light (we had to drink that...

    Flooding 066

Hey guys, I need to have a few of you guy's steer me in the right direction on my 066. It runs strong and is an awesome saw, but if I leave it sit for a couple of days it floods itself. I then need to hold the trigger down and pull it about a dozen times and it fires up and is good for as long...

About ready to get rid of the Dolmar

I cast my vote with a few others here. Go into the dealer and ask them what the hell the problem is. Then if they continue the crap, dump the saw and buy Stihl if you need the dealer support. You are the customer and should be treated like one no matter if you are buying a $.20 part or a saw...

    Nice Runnin' 021 or a dog 029 trade-in for $125?

I never watched Nuzzy's video. It looks like from the thread he left the baffle out and I just drilled some holes in mine and replaced it. The way I modded it was not a full blown mod, just opened it up a bit. It had an added increase in power and noise and runs like a bigger saw. It runs real...

    Nice Runnin' 021 or a dog 029 trade-in for $125?

I believe mine was a Walbro. Didn't really look to see who made it just tuned it up and started cutting.

    Nice Runnin' 021 or a dog 029 trade-in for $125?

Sadly I don't have pictures. But I can tell you how I did it. The muffler is rather simple to mod. Go to this thread to see pictures of the guts of a 021 muffler. Post #12 is where the pictures are..... http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=92634&highlight=021+muffler+mod The...

A slight muffler mod will wake that saw up big time. I did mine and was highly impressed with the results.

What's the best BS sales pitch you ever got from a dealer?

I sent my wife to the local Stihl dealer to get new clutch springs for my 066. I gave her all three springs and told her I need three more like these but new. She came back about twenty minutes later with my old springs. The dealer told her after looking at them "There isn't anything wrong with...
