Stihl 260 Pro with 3/8 chain

026 with 3/8th chain I have two 026's, one with .325 chisel and one with 3/8th semi (both 16" bars). The one with 3/8th go's real good in all sorts of wood, even with bar buried. I actually prefer it to the other. I must admit though, it does have a good muffler mod!. Like you, I went this...

MS 260 poor idle and stalling

026 idles problem Sorry for late reply but Ive been having exactly this problem also and this post describes my saw exactly! Runs like a dream at WOT in cut and wont idle directly afterwards. Nurse the throttle a bit and it can come right. Some days leaning the "L" screws works and I think...

New Piston & Cyl Kit - Low Comp

Pic of exhaust port Couple of pics with muffler off looking down port: one showing rings and the other with piston at BDC. Not too clear but done for the sake of sanity :)

New Piston & Cyl Kit - Low Comp

New P&C kit I tried the gauge on another 026 and a newish smaller saw, both gave 150 readings so figured gauge was fine. I agree, this saw starts and runs far too well for 60 psi but thats what the gauge consistantly tells me!!! It must be one of those frustrating mysteries!!!!!

New Piston & Cyl Kit - Low Comp

I have an 026. It was a sec hand saw and when got it had a scored cylinder. So it had a new piston and cylinder kit put on it (Baileys 026/Ms260 kit). The saw starts, idles and cuts ok, but seemed to be lacking a bit of power. After about an hours use I have compression tested it...... 60...

    026 wont rev to 12.5k+

Hi guys I have an 026. Its recently had a new piston and head put on it and a new stihl 16"bar and chain (3/8). It had a few teething problems with the carb and tank valve but those are fixed now.Compression is good and doesn't seem to have symptoms of an air leak. It starts and idles well...

    Dummie Carb adjustment question

Hi Guys I know this is a silly question but I need to be sure. I know the H & L screws are for metering fuel. I assume that when both screws are screwed right in ,on the seats, then this effectively closes off the fuel, ie extreme lean! On this basis, screwing them out lets more fuel in...

Chain size on Stihl 026 (3/8 or 325)

I have an 026 that runs 3/8 063 chain on an 18"bar (7 slot sprocket). Runs OK but I feel it lacks a bit of power in the cut. I want to go to a 16" bar but would prefer to keep 3/8 chain as my other saws run this size. I know these saws normally run on 325 chain and there seems to be a mixed...

I also have a Husky 346 and Echo CS 8000. I have used other 026's and for the right sized tree / wood. I know this 026 is not running as well as it should. Think ill try another carb....

Stihl 026 - Lacking power and responsivness

Stihl 026 Compression checked and OK, Had head replaced myself, did have score marks in bore and lacked compression prior hence I thought it was the obvious problem. Cheers for the constructive comments so far

Stihl 026 - Lacking power and responsivness

I recently bought an 026. It was lacking responsiveness on the trigger and wouldn't maintain power during cutting, although it would rev 13,000+ when not cutting (with 18" bar). It has had a new head and piston kit put on it, carb inspected and cleaned, air filter etc but no real change. Have...
