Nice cleanup. For your consideration: I don't put dirko around the seals when assembling. But on the other hand I generally replace the seals? Always pressure test. Make sure you put a dab of dirko where the pan and cylinder mate together on the seal.

Madsen's about $48 a dozen for good leather gloves. I generally pick them up by the dozen when I'm in Chehalis, Wa. Too many of us on the farm to go hunting around for gloves.

OEM clips are smaller diameter (thickness of wire) for this application. Although, I've used them with no failures. Would like to have one that fits the application better. Sources for a better fitting clip?

Moose, I'm sure you already know this as you've done a number of rebuilds. But, suggest "Pressure testing the cylinder/piston assembly prior to final installation". Clam shell setups have a higher rate of failure (pressure) for me anyway. deereguy

Purchased a new aftermarket crank for a beater Stihl 660 $25 delivered ebay. Pleasantly surprised. It miced out perfectly. Weighted slightly less (something like 96% of oem). In the future, I would try the aftermarket over used oem. At least until I was burned. deereguy
