    Climbing a tall spruce

I have a Spruce tree that is about 50' or so high and I have climbed up before using the branches like a ladder and working my way around. I know this is probably not the right way or the safest way, but it works. I've seen some guys on youtube climbing and it seems lilke their rope is...

    Dwarf Cherry - yellow leaves

I water about 1 gallon every 2 days. I took the picture at night and it didn't come out that well.

    Dwarf Cherry - yellow leaves

This will be the second summer I've had this dwarf Cherry tree. I put some grass clippings around the base to keep the weeds down and keep me from having to mow too close to the trunk. This year I've noticed some of the leaves are turning yellow and then dropping off and I'm not sure why. Am...

    Poulan Pro XXV

If I find a manual somewhere I'll post it here. Those ads are great. Wow, I think that first ad says it goes for $123.

    Poulan Pro XXV

I found the Beg for manuals thread labrax mentioned. There is an older post in there by someone looking for the same manual and someone responded saying they had it, so I sent that guy a message. Hopefully he can get me a copy. I don't think I would buy a new Poulan, but it looks to be a...

    Poulan Pro XXV

My inlaws have an old green Poulan Pro XXV that someone never maintained. I'm interested in seeing if I can bring it to life, it looks like it would make a good small saw to have around. Does anyone know where I could find a manual for it?

Bing Cherry and Japanese Beetles - Help!

I read some where that spraying the tree with a mixture of water and dishsoap works. I'm going to try that out this year and see if it actually works.

    Boots

Thanks for the info. I don't want to spend too much seeing as I won't be wearing them all the time, so those Hermans sound good. I was just looking at these: http://www.americanmadeworkboots.com/carolina231.html That's probably about the most I would spend. Those Gel inserts are a good...

    Boots

I have a pair of boots that is about 12 years old and I think it's time to replace them. I want to make sure I have something with a steel toe for when I'm using the chainsaw. Mostly I cut firewood, and fell some standing dead trees. Other than that I use my boots for camping, or keeping my...

how to avoid pinching the saw

My only concern with leaving it there is that the roots on the underside let go it could roll down towards the house. For now it's tied off to another tree with a big rope. I think it is going to end up staying there.

    This is AMAZING

not that I'm an expert, but I have used rubbing alcohol and it works for me with some scrubbing, but since then I just wear some old leather gloves if I want to keep my hands clean.

how to avoid pinching the saw

I managed to get a piece about the size of 2 firewood lengths off by cutting a wide notch in the top and coming up from the bottom between two branches that were holding it up underneath. Now it is definitely on the ground, and the top is under compression. It is tied off to the tree next...

how to avoid pinching the saw

My senses told me that if I pinch the saw under the weight of that stump or if it landed on me it would be trouble. After carrying a few of those logs down the hill you begin to respect the gravity (no pun intended) of the situation. At this point the tree is off the lawn which is what I...

how to avoid pinching the saw

At this point it's off the lawn so I'm not in any big rush to remove the rest of it. Right now it's tied to the smaller tree to the right just in case. I will post an update when I finally get it out of there. Thanks for all the advice!

    Purchased a string trimmer

I've been thinking about buying a trimmer (instead of borrowing one all the time). Does anyone know if the Stihl trimmers are any good? I definitely don't need a pro trimmer, but I want to make sure that whatever I Get will last.

    Fertilizing dwarf cherry

I have a self pollinating cherry tree that I planted in the Fall just before the frost. Is there anything I should be doing to fertilize it now that it's spring? I have been trying to give it at least a gallon of water a day. It's still going down to the 30's at night so I don't think I...
