3-D Printing and Spencer Tape Gears

Here is a link to the thread that I posted way back when, so that I don't have to do it all over again...hey that rhymes, I might just have to make a song about that... http://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/post-your-helpful-chainsaw-cutting-tips-and-tricks.120660/page-10

Those tape nails are the shiznitty, especially with a plastic tape end...way less weight, and just stretch the rubber bumper over about half of it or you lose em.

    Logging Tunes and Poetry

My fave is "the frozen logger". I have a version sang by Julie Delaney, and thought I would find it on youtube but this is what I found instead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBLHeAvZyh8 I like that video but noticed toward the end of the song the lyrics from the one that I have are...

    Wildland fire gear

Hey folks, I am going on fires this Summer as an independent contractor so I need my own gear. Since it is so spendy new, I was wondering if any of youins had some used that you would part with. JacobJ said he might be able to help me out with the fire shelter, but I still need two pairs of...

    Sizwheel and dutchman

I call it the needle guage. You can watch it, and if it goes down, then that means that the tree is going over to where it is gunned, if it goes up, then the tree is setting back. It works great.

    Chainsaw chain in bulk

I've always bought chain by the 100' roll, even before I had a bench mounted break n mend. Last roll I bought from Madsens was 100' roll of 3/8ths Oregon, $219 = 23.48 shipping. Works out to $.2020 per inch of chain which is about $13.73 for a loop of 93 drivers or 28" chain. Not a bad deal...

    Sizwheel and dutchman

Thanks Daniel :) The sizwheel definitely has it's place in my bag of tricks. It works better on some tree than others of course. Here is a good demonstration of how well it can work with a Red Fir which has real strong lineal fibers. It swung this tree farther than I had it gunned which is...

    Couple of dicey situations

Was falling timber for a wild land fire contractor this Summer. Both scenarios happened while I was taking down trees in prep of a back burn...so I was trying to hustle and trying to limit the fuel on the ground...both situations could have been prevented, but I did not foresee them as too...

You should try coming to the West Coast and getting a timber cutting job:msp_biggrin: I figure you would not last 5 minutes? If you think not, let me know...I can hook you up with a job...we will see how long you last :)

tell me this guy aint quick..

I've had the privilege to work around some of the best timber fallers around...I would count him among them...besides that, he's my Brother :)

    Not a C faller :)

He is cuttin for an outfit in Elmira Oregon. Thanks...it was fun for sure :) Thanks :) Most of the Red fir was fairly sound and easier to work with...the White Fir sucked. Contour Roam. I decided on it because it mounts on the side of your helmet instead of the top like the gopro.
