    It will absorb water to , would take a lot of sealer often and then be slick . Where white oak would last for years with no maintenance . Red is inside wood if you got a place to store it mill it and save it .

    Yes i have a 036 pro mean little saw i run a 18 " on mine cross cutting . Find your self a 460 or 660 before you loose the 036 .

    Well i guess I am different I would have that white oak crotch on the boom and in the truck in 60 sec to put on the lathe then look around for fire wood . I to keep soft wood in a separate pile from long soft wood shop stove will take 4' ,home only 16"

    Bob , i was walking in the field and triped over a root got the only pice of firewood with my fingers as i fell . I have been milling some i milled some 20" x4" x 12' walnut benches for an area we have full moon bonfires .

    Wood turner , first is mount it up on the lathe on centers , cut one end flat ,seckond thing i do is a 2 " hole to the bottom this helps my hollower get started and cuts down on cracking . A week or two of hollowing i wrap in plastic if i go out of the shop .

    Thats as bad as asking what kind of premix oil you use in the chainsaw forum.You might put it in the oven for a time , weigh it first then hourly and when it stops loosing weight it might burn .

    We pump cold air out of the back bedroom to the basement which forces cold air up the stairs in the stove room at the other end of the house . Stove hot air goes down the hall turning the thermostat off then to the bedroom it's 2 maybe 3 degrees cooler 50 ' back in the back rooms .

    Sometimes the but of the tree has twist that un twist when you mill . Start at the other end and use a lot of wedge . If that doesn't work have you seen u tube log split with dine mite .

    84 here now and fixing to light a bondfire for our full moon church group . Don't worry it wont be a very big fire ,we just burn some limbs tell it gets cold then we fire it up ,burning junk from wood pile splitting area .
