    The unofficial Mac 10-10 thread

Thank You, it is 3/8 pitch. Guard links are marked L and R left/right, but just 370 on the drive links. Looks like PM370 GLX from your pictures.

    Info on a Homelite 707D

I like to run 32:1 in old saws, looks like a Tillotson HL series carburetor. .....

Problem with Homelite 330, no negative comments please.

Check crank seals if you have pressure/vac tester, recommend checking out Leon's chainsaw parts and repair, he mostly does Homelites, has a good how-to on youtube.

    The unofficial Mac 10-10 thread

I have a PM605 brick, 20 in bar with the 370 stamped chain. It has weird anti-vibe damper links. Do you know who made the chain, Oregon?

New to tree climbing equipment advice?

I have free climbed smaller trees, up to 40 feet for fun and light trimming, but have zero experience with any kind of rigging. Have some big cottonwood trees close to my house that have no lower branches to start a climb. I want to get to some dead limbs and drop them, but before going into...

This Photo of a Guy sawing

As a non-pro I would prefer to not cut overhead like that, just looks awkward, would move further down where the tree is closer to the ground, make a cut to drop the limb then buck it on the ground.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

My god, that is horrible... I call it the white death, but that is an extremely bad case. Magnesium corrosion.

    Best saw oil?

Any modern brand name oil meant for air cooled 2 strokes, no leaner than 50:1.

Homelite 775d dies instantly when tilted 90* to bar side.

Mine has the "white death", really bad fuel tank corrosion, magnesium break down after many years. And, it has vacuum leaks at the crankshaft, don't think it has conventional crank seals, more like bushings. There was a guy on here who was very good at restoring these old Homelites, Lewis...

Homelite 775d dies instantly when tilted 90* to bar side.

This was the first chainsaw I bought, that started my addiction. Your's is in a lot better shape than mine, sounds like it has good compression.

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I like points ignitions on small engines. Hotter spark at low rpm, most of these old saws aren't being used enough that they will wear out anytime soon, learn to set the gap and don't worry about it. Would only convert to a Chinese module if points kit is NLA.

Is my problem the spark plug?

Back in the old days I never had issues with spark plugs. Starting in the early 2000's Champion went downhill and since then don't trust them. They don't fail completely, the engine might pop, or even catch and run badly leading you to think it's a fuel issue. I still have old Champions from the...

It's starting - New California law bans ...

At least for now. Once they ban new sales of gas ope and that becomes the norm, how long until they want to take it a little further. Maybe have you pay a user fee, specifically to target people that won't get with the program.

    aviation gas in chainsaw ok???

If we are bringing it up.. A question you might ask yourself is, what octane rating do you actually need for the application? In cars you run the risk of detonation if the octane rating is too low. It's not normally an issue, unless you have a higher compression ratio, and aggressive spark...
