    Muffler Bolts Coming Loose

I had the same issue on my 385xp. I paid less than $1 for toothed "star washers". I have not had to tighten since (7 years)

Time for a bigger saw, how big to go?

Definitely a 385xp or 390xp. 24" bar and a 8 pin rim for most applications. I picked up a 32"bar and chain combo from Left Coast Supplies for a great price; for the 1% of the time I need it. Obviously the 7 pin rim will be run with the 32".

    Why are chainsaws so popular?

Chainsaws are a tool used to provide what a man was designed to do. Provide for his family. No fire = no heat, no cooked food, no protection from wild beasts...death. Thousands of years passed with man using less efficient tools for this task. String trimmers are a tool akin to a woman's...

    24" Bar

My 385xp wears a 24" bar 100% of the time. That is 7 years of firewood cuttting. A half dozen times I could have used a longer bar more efficiently. Left Coast Supplies made it too reasonable to refuse a 32"GB bar and chain combo on sale for the 1% need.

Guy wants to trade a saw for fire wood

As is typical with most liars, what was said and what was done proved the man.

Help in cleaning asphalt and tar from a chainsaw

I would try a small can of WD-40. I have used it to remove road tar from my vehicle. If it works for your application buy it in 1 gallon cans.

    stump grinder question

I priced renting a grinder for a half day, added in my time, learning curve, etc., and found it was less expensive to have the local tree service grind them.

    Here Come the Thieves Again

I had an issue with people dumping on my property. 4" spikes every 6" in a piece of native lumber solved the issue. Had to straighten nails every weekend and re-set it for several weeks.

    Poison ivy inhalation?

Yes! I have had extreme cases of both with poison ivy and poison sumac. Internally it is quite miserable, and of course you usually have it externally also.

What an airflter can be doing

Good information! Are there any opinions on how large an airborne particle a two-stroke engine can ingest on a regular basis and not adversely affect the designed service life of the engine? (100 microns is about .004" or about 1/2 the diameter of a human hair)

    Silver Maple near Septic

Just dealt with a similar situation, 12 time zones from home. Septic service augured roots and I eliminated the tree this spring. Septic service said the roots may grow for up to 2 years.

    Chainsaw/Spare Chain Storage Ideas

All my spare rims, chains, files, spark plugs, etc. fit in a mil-surplus .50 cal ammo can. Keep the chains in their original packaging and they do well.

    346xp vs MS241 vs 450

I couldn't agree more! P&C kits are cheap from AS member Spike60.

    Help picking 2nd/3rd saw

I added a clean used 346xp to my stable this year from an AS member. It is the saw I select for everything less than 18" in diameter. Keep the chain sharp and it does not disappoint. I suspect an MS260 would fit the bill also.

    Felling Lever/Bar

Can someone who uses a felling bar explain to me the benefits of having one. My CAD is telling me I need one.

    Buncha chainsaw weirdos!

Ugh! Why did I open this thread! Now I have to bleach my eyes and go to therapy to try to unsee this.
