    Electric Motor on Splitter.

    Keep in mind that a 5hp single phase motor will draw approx. 28 amps at 230 volts and a 10hp will require 50 amps. Double those numbers for 110v.

    I built my own out of aluminum conduit, bicycle wheels and a few sheets of metal. All materials were scrounged from my shop so it cost $0. I haul my wood down 13 steps then through two rooms and down a hallway to my wood stove. I can haul as much as a wheelbarrow at a time, about 25-30 pieces...

    Here's the splitter Egine is a Craftsman 16hp cast iron block from a 70's era riding mower. Pump is a Haldex 16gmp 2-stage. Ram is a Chief 24" stroke, 4" bore, 2.25" rod. Trailer is old military. It operates at 2800 psi

    I'll let you know when I split the big stuff. I split a few small ones without a problem. (I got a big gnarly homemade splitter so I'm not too worried) I also have some pics as it was coming down if you're interested. I can throw in a pic of my splitter also.

    Where'd my wood go?

    It's amazing how brazen some thieves can be. I had some stolen right out of my trailer while I was at my doctor's office (maybe 20 minutes).
