Just ran across this picture, thought you guys might like it

I remember this photo too. I thought there was a story that went along with it that described the Brothers who trained the moose to pull the harness. As I recall it was on the up and up. But I have been known to be wrong before.

    Tree Shears

We have cut thousands of trees with the Dymax at work. Great head. Will cut junipers upto 14 inche no problem. Never cut a hardwood with it though. Juniper is as hard as they come around here (Central Oregon). The real handy part with ours is the accumulator will hold a tree or two between...

    skidsteers and tree shears

We have a Dymax shear that can handle 18 inch trees (MAX) that we put on a Bobcat T-200 or our ASV RC 100 or our ASV 4520. It has an accumulator for handling more than one tree at a time.

    Best saw for wife

Mine runs a ported 036. She loves it. She doesn't care for saws larger than a 044. She only weighs 125 lbs. All she ran when she was in fire was a 036 and she wont change.

    Hollow tree technique

Remember: One half the volume of a board foot is in the outer 1/3 diameter of a tree. Hollow trees can be cut just like a solid one if the outer wood left is quality.

Could you safely fall this tree?

yeah I think I could dump that tree. If it REALLY needed to come down.

    Powerfull saw !!!!

We (USFS) have used slashbusters for fuels reduction work. You should see what it will do to a 40 foot green Ponderosa Pine. Gone in 10 seconds. Leaves chunks of wood the size of a fist and smaller. I'll see if I can dig up some video of the demo we did with it.

    crosscut saw ident

Thats a sweet looking little bucking saw. Would be nice far long distance trail work. I keep this old bucker from the wife's grandfather for sentimental reasons. Its an 8 footer. Used to carry some 7 footers into the Selway-Bitterroot on fires and for trail work. A sharp one with a "GOOD"...

My 044 was stolen this weekend!

these thieves need to be taken out to the woods and tied to a stump. Thieves suck.

Sport falling by evil undocumented fallers

Bill, Rico said there was a web site that people were posting pictures of themselves cutting down these big trees in some kind of a competion. I could not seem to find one. We havnt been struck by this yet. I suppose its only a manner of time.

Protective gloves sold in europe - not sold in U.S.?

I like my cotton gloves just fine. I se the leathers on fires ( cause we're mandated) But all other falling I like my cheap, thin cottons. They get nice and tacty when they get a bit of pitch on 'em.
