    066 air filter changes

Hi all: I just picked up a used 066 and noticed that it has a slightly different air filter system than my older 066. The older model has a wire-cage filter with a foam insert. The newer saw has a coregated wire-cage filter with no foam insert. Both have a felt band over the outside. Why design...

    New Jugs

Another vote for the BB 026! I just bought a P&C from Bailey's for my 026. Definitely would have bought the BB kit if it had been available. I plan on keeping this saw for a long time, so maybe next time around. Sign me up for a BB 026 kit! -Skooks

Which to mod, 046 BB or 066

Stock BB vs stock OEM for milling Hi all: Would a Stock BB have any advantage over a stock OEM cylinder for milling applications on an 066? I'm thinking the BB should have more low-end torque, which should be an advantage for milling. Cheers, Don

    026 rebuild

what is the tank support pin attached to? Very clear instructions, thanks! I just finished re-building my 026. I noticed that there is nothing for the tank support pin to engage with. Is there supposed to be another AV bushing or something just under the oil filler hole? -Don

I need help deciding on a chainsaw for my husband's birthday!!

It's all good now Just wanted to update everyone on the status of the 361's that AuntMeme and myself tried to buy. Neither of us ended up getting the saws but the seller has refunded our money. Nobody was trying to scam anyone. The seller had some personal difficulties that do not need to be...

I need help deciding on a chainsaw for my husband's birthday!!

Thanks but I would appreciate it if everyone stayed out of this for the time being. I am now thinking that the seller is legit and I have confidence that I will get my money back. I will definitely let y'all know if I don't! -Don

BB kit recommended for older 066?

Thanks. By 'mod' to you mean port grinding/modification and possibly changing the squish? I have not done any of this but I have opened up the muffler. This helped noticeably. -Don

I need help deciding on a chainsaw for my husband's birthday!!

I have been informed that there were actually 2 saws for sale, so maybe this is not a scam after all. Do you have tracking information for the saw she sent you? I hope you get it sorted out. I am still in the process of trying to resolve this. I will keep you up to date. -Don

Newbie?Best project saw for a first timer

I have just finished re-building a 026 and really enjoyed the process. The saw is easy to work on and looks like it will complement my 066 pretty well. I got the saw for free after my neighbour put bad gas into it. I ordered an aftermarket piston and cylinder from Bailey's and it runs like a...

    Anti-vibe bushings on 026

I need help deciding on a chainsaw for my husband's birthday!!

auntmeme: Please keep me posted on what happens. I am currently waiting for my money back from her. She seemed legit at first and agreed to sell me me the saw but after I send my cheque I started to get a bunch of excuses and finally was told that I would not be getting the saw. I'm not sure...

BB kit recommended for older 066?

The new 066 BB kit seems like just the ticket to get a little extra grunt out of my milling saw. My 066 is an older model with a metal flywheel though. Is there a risk of over-stressing and breaking the crank if I put on the bigger jug? -Don

    Anti-vibe bushings on 026

I am in the middle of putting together an older 026 and it looks like one of the anti-vibe bushing is missing. Is there supposed to be one at the front on the bottom on the flywheel side? It looks like there is a spot for an additional bushing opposite the bushing on the clutch side. The IPL...

How does an 'inertial' chain-brake work?

Hi all: How does an 'inertial' chain-brake (specifically on a Stihl) work? I have my 026 apart right now and am just curious how the brake is supposed to operate without hitting the hand-guard/brake control? Thanks, Skooks.

I need help deciding on a chainsaw for my husband's birthday!!

Something is fishy here! Was that saw by any chance being sold by a seller name "bluecullison"? If so then something is fishy. I 'bought' a 361 from this seller and it sounds like the same person/saw. I sent here a registered money order on Dec. 27 which she has cashed. She is now telling me...

    Check out my saw!

electric ring saw I have a very similar saw but it is powered by a 220 volt electric gear-drive motor. It looks kinda like the world's meanest skilsaw. I believe the intention is to get more depth of cut from the blade than a center-drive saw. -Skooks

warm air port on a 026

My new (old) 026 that I am rebuilding has a port to direct warm air into the carb/air box. The port is wide open and has nothing to cover it with. Should this be open all of the time or just for cold-weather cutting?

    Piston work on an 026

Mods Thanks for the words of wisdom guys. I will stick with the muffler mod and maybe clean up the intake port just a bit. Skooks:cheers:
