390xp how to tell what bar/chain to use

Hi all, I apologize for this very beginner question. I have a 3120xp that I've been using fairly regularly and I've done a small amount of troubleshooting on other homeowner grade saws. I purchased a 390xp powerhead on here and I have no idea how to figure out what bar/chain to get. The...

Help needed: Brand new Husqvarna 3120XP issue

Did this get resolved? I have an issue where when I'm full throttle cutting through a 30ish" log, the chains wants to come to a stop if the bar is perfectly 90 to the cut (this is on a granberg mill). If I let it have some lead at the nose, it seems to help. Not sure what is happening here...

    3120xp not firing

I contacted the closest dealer and they said two years warranty on the saw. The build date of my saw was in 2017 and I don't have an official receipt for the transaction so I'm guessing I have to eat this one. Maybe it's luck of the draw but not really impressed the ignition module went out...

    3120xp not firing

I purchased it from another member here. I'm imagining I'll run into some resistance if I bring it to a random husqvarna dealer, no?

    3120xp not firing

Hi all, I have a very new 3120xp that I was able to start and run for <1hr in the woods. Then we fired it up and used it to mill a 30ish inch maple slab off the top. I set it down to cool for 30 seconds turned it off. Moved some stuff around, came back to fire it up again and couldn't...

    Sold 390XP's

Received my saw as well and everything looks good. Sure, the manual isn't english but a google search for a downloadable PDF is easy. I'm sure you could find a manual if you really need it. The saw arrived quicker than expected (before I got back home from travel).

Trees to mill (elevated at two ends)

Thanks everyone, we didn't tackle it Saturday because we were milling a different tree. Hope to get to those trees shortly. I'll post more pics and replies when we get back to those trees.

Trees to mill (elevated at two ends)

3120xp with 42" bar. I have the mill part taken care of, just wanted to make sure I cut this tree down without putting myself at any greater risk than necessary. Not sure which end I should attack first?

Trees to mill (elevated at two ends)

We have a couple trees that blew over but the first is still suspended at both ends. So I tried to grab every angle so you could see the forces being applied. There is a small mound of dirt/rootball from the second tree pressing against the middle of the first tree. The first...

after how many gas tank to mill

So what mixes are people using for the mill saws? I was running 50:1 with my 3120xp in the woods for the first time (no milling) but tomorrow I'll be milling up a 32+" red oak and I've seen suggestions for 40:1, 50:1, etc. Should it be somewhere in between?

    Want to Sell NIB Husky 288xp, 353, Stihl 660, 070, 381, Echo CS-1201

Where would you source parts for a 1201? Is anyone using them for milling? I already have a big CC saw but this saw has me curious.

Want to Sell NEW 2022 BUILD HUSQVARNA 3120XP CHAINSAW POWERHEAD $1759 USD SHIPPED

For any new 3120 xp owners, please read the above. I forgot in the interim because I didn't get to milling as fast as I had hoped. Had to clear out deadwood for my grandpa, life, etc. etc. Pulled out the manual this past Saturday and put the choke and throttle lock on, I was redfaced. Turned...

    Starting Chainsaw milling

I'm really glad you said that. I was working to remove it and kept getting confused thinking I was doing something wrong. So add an extra 2-3" of lost space. Since this is a purely milling saw, wonder if I should grind them down? THat's probably a terrible idea for a number of reasons.

    Starting Chainsaw milling

Going back and reading this, I'm intrigued. Most people I've seen suggest ripping chain. You're saying just go for full chisel, full comp? And then slowly grind? I saw the Stihl RCX ripping chain but I couldn't find anywhere besides Ebay and I don't think that's what you're suggesting...

    Starting Chainsaw milling

Just a little late. I purchased a 42" and 36" Oregon bars. I'll go Cannon next time, probably when I need to reach for something bigger than my 42". I also already purchased Oregon ripping chain .404, along with the 48" Alaskan MKIV. So begins my education, I'm a diligent notetaker with my...

    Chain HP Limits

So rather than learn how to sharpen your bandsaw blades, or just finding a good business to sharpen them for you, you want to go to the trouble of rebuilding your saw for chain? Call the MFGR, if they have the data and their team of lawyers are comfortable with it being released, I'm sure...

    Starting Chainsaw milling

thanks for the replies, placing the order today. Will post pics once I get everything set-up. I've read a few people that said I should run a couple tanks through the saw before taking it out milling. I don't have my bar/chain yet but I could fire it up and just let it run if a "breakin"...

    Starting Chainsaw milling

thanks for that buttercup, so I guess I need kevlar pants ground at 10 degrees, so at least one of the meeting surfaces is at a steep enough angle to prevent an accident :) But seriously, we have three logs on the ground, the widest is about 32.5" in diameter. Should I go ahead and make the...

    Starting Chainsaw milling

Alright, I'm changing it up. I'll order the Alaskan MKIV from a separate retailer. Because I'm new to this world, anyone have a link or suggestion for a good 42" or 48" bar and chain? I've seen people suggest rip chain, chisel skip, Stihl 63PMX ripping chain, etc. I received the 3120xp with...
