    Pine trees dying

Pine Wilt Nematode Pine wilt nematode is killing a lot of pines through out the central US. The Scotch and Austrian pines are very susceptible as are others. The way you described sounds like that problem. Bark beetle die back and kill usually appears later in the season.

    Pentra Bark

Pentra bark does not seem to do much in the studies we did. Products that work on the bark seem to do so without it. If your having trouble wetting the bark use any surfactant - it will work fine.

    injecting the slippery elm

The strength of Arbotect matters Still use the 2 oz to 1 gallon of water. Thus you would want to use 1/2 the water with 1/2 the chemical. Diluting Arbotect too much has shown in research to not be as effective as the recommended strength. Plus the xylem in red elms is thinner and tougher to...

    New Emerald Ash Borer Treatment

Bark spray Oh -If they are using pentrabark I take back my awesome rating. Adding this strong solvent/ surfactant will bleach out the bark, kill grass and leaves if oversprayed. I wonder if any nonionic surfactant will help with bark absorption. I am looking forward to having a...

    New Emerald Ash Borer Treatment

Safari for EAB What the Valent guy didn't say in the article is that it has a significantly shorter residual as compared to Imidicloprid. The reason it goes through the bark so easily is because it is so water soluble. They cannot obtain a soil drench label because of that. Is there any...

    success with Pinscher?

For only one tree Since you are only treating one tree, I would spray florel. It does work very well. Timing is the key - you need to spray just after flower opening. Let us all know how it works if you do it.

    success with Pinscher?

Fruit reduction Nothing has worked that we have used. (we have never used Pinscher) Florel sprayed at flower opening has had some success - but the timing window is extremely small. Thus we no longer use it as we have had to refund too much money. Injections with this product (pinscher)...

Oak pruning and Wisc. DNR date

April 15th is a conservative safe date According to the people at the University of Minnesota, they have never seen a spore mat before May 10th. Doesn't mean they don't exist before that, but thats what they say. I believe they chose the April 15th date as a safe time to allow the pruning...

    Arbotech and anthracnose

Sycamore Anthracnose Since Sycamore Anthracnose is a stem inhabiting fungus. Traditional sprays cannot penetrate the wood so they rarely work. The major infection grows into the leaf from the inside of the twig. (Shoot blight). In warm springs, this happens less though. There are...

    Injection systems

Other soil products I think you are thinking down the right path. We are looking at other products now for exactly that purpose. Metasystox has EPA issues since it is so toxic. But there are other possibilities such as Acephate - which is not currently registered. We are working to change...

    Injection systems

Treating EAB The purpose of protecting trees for EAB is to get enough Imidicloprid into the tree in a way that will give even and complete distribution. If there are no symptoms and trees are not succumbing close by. Then I would for sure do the soil application. Research in Michigan shows...

Bark Penetrating surfactants Our company teamed up with Bartlett the last two summers to do research on this. Unfortunately we spent a sizable amount of our budget because we were so excited about the possibilities. I will list in bullet points why we dropped this method using pentrabark...

    Dutch Trig for DED?

Does Dutch Trig Work? Its not about the reps and what they say. I can see why you would say that so I will not be insulted. It is all about peer reviewed published research. This is the only field, related to the health care of an important and majestic living organism, where it seems to...
