    Removing rust in truck tray

Sorry I thought ATF was universal speak for automatic transmission fluid. -8 below 0 looks something like this LOL The idea you are working on if no steel needs to be cut out and new steel welded in, is to clean off what rust you can, then arrest it with acid, then protect what you...

A jeep with tall wheels? Hows that work? You loose the bottom end of getting moving.. Do you change the gearing to like 16:1 or something?

    Removing rust in truck tray

I think your on the right track, beat the metal, power wire brush the metal, treat it with acid, spill new ATF on the metal and swoosh it around, bolt on a top coat metal layer, and check under it once in awhile. AFT? You ever see rust form after ATF was on the metal? I never have, and use it...

Mccullough Timber Bear Dies after running about ten mins..please help

I am a in general engine tech for any engine, so I got no clue where the tank vent is on this specific engine or how it is set up. That part is for you to discover. If you said i was running this saw at full rpm a long time gang cutting slab wood I would some other ideas... you didn't.

Mccullough Timber Bear Dies after running about ten mins..please help

Go run it and when it quites pop off the fuel cap and see if it starts right back up. Might be a clogged tank vent. If it is, an hour might be enough time to allow air pressure to equalize... Popping the cap open will equalize it as fast as you can put the cap back on.

Whats you favorite wood to cut/burn.... -Stove Pics-

In New Hampshire USA, we have a wide variety of hard woods, but this lot was raped before 1930 to be a Fair Ground, and white pine is about it, with a smattering of red and black oak, a little poplar, and little sugar maples. The shop has the only wood stove which runs 24/7 on mostly white...

Mccullough Timber Bear Dies after running about ten mins..please help

Next time open the fuel filler cap and put it right back on, and see it this same even takes place again. I assume when it quits you have to wait a while before the saw will start again.

    whats up with my saw

I used to be a foreign car tech, and so while I don't know this specific saw engine, it is like a great deal of other saw engines. If i could get my greasey mitts on this saw I could fix it in several hours for anything wrong with it, so long as parts were forth coming. The ATV sealer used to...

    whats up with my saw

The chain oil and bar problems are not related.. The loose carb mount allows un-metered air into the engine, and is the cause of the high rpm. Get a new gasket, base or collar, that will hold the carb on air tight. Back off the throttle plate screw so the buttery fly is closed. With...

    whats up with my saw

No, no RTV ever on a carb or anywhere near fuel lines, unless you want a really clogged up carb. When was the last time this saw ran right? If you bought it used, has it ever run right?

Its a good thing I got that 28" bar!!!

You can do as you want, but bass wood is a waste as fire wood from the get go. On the other hand wood carvers love the stuff, and will drop hard coin to get it. My advice is wait and see if you can come up with money for these trees. A lot of money. Ever hear the sayin' "To Bark up the...

    Making Bar Oil...?

Bingo.... I hated the stench of new motor oil, new ATF, and every other quench oil I tried untill used cannola oil for free was tried. At the time mainly I was making blades for knives, darts head for atlatals, and lance like spears. These were made mostly of old files and horse shoe...

    Making Bar Oil...?

It depends on how timely your oil changes are.. How many cold starts that never get the engine warm enough to blow the crankcase clear of moisture. How do you know these oil pans are mint inside? If I rebuilt a air cooled VW engine, i rebuilt 1,000, and many of them had internal webbing...

    Making Bar Oil...?

I am not dead sure, but think the modern oils are not as bad for the land. Dead engine oil is bad for the saw and the land as it is full of sulfer contaminates and acids. The damage it causes to a saw should be viewed in long term use. Acids eatting up that alloy and the steel over a long...

    storying saws over winter.

I use ethenol fuel because i can't get any better. I add Seafoam when I mix up the oil. I leave my filled too.. In summer when storms are less likely and it is too hot I will pull the plig and add a few drops of Seafoam on the piston. Seafoam was made in the 40's I think for outboard motors...
