EFCO Brand - Please leave me your feedback!

Good luck finding them in Canada! Mine is still a great saw.

    Mcculloch Eager Beaver ID

I've acquired a 2116AV Eager Beaver. It runs but it doesn't oil. Where can I find parts? I assume it's the oil pump that's gone. Also, the wrap around handle is broken at the bottom where it attaches to the housing, needs replacing. I need to buy online from someone who will ship to...

The Chainsawr's Efco Story (Please read this if you're considering buying one.)

What's in a name, an EFCO by any other would still run as sweet, no?

EFCO Brand - Please leave me your feedback!

From what I remember from past Efco threads, a member from Down East (Canada talk) was running tests on the 156 & 165; the 156 came out on top. Good buy!

Any Solo Dealers out there with thoughts on picking up a dealership

Thanks for the feedback, but competing with other Stihl/Dolmar/Husky dealers isn't going to do much more, maybe less. A business has to be built regardless of brand recognition or rep.

Any Solo Dealers out there with thoughts on picking up a dealership

Just stumbled onto this thread. To add my 2cents, Solo is a great saw: it's my workhorse right beside Efco. You have too much competition too close by to go with the usual recognized names. As for parts, I'm in Canada, so we get screwed no matter the brand, big or small. I'd vote for Solo.

The Chainsawr's Efco Story (Please read this if you're considering buying one.)

Well, today I went to pick up parts for a B&S water pump engine; the dealer/service depot is also a Stihl dealer/service depot. We got talking and I asked were his saws still US/German made? Yes, all but the smallest one, Hecho en Mexico. He asked about my saws, I mentioned Efco; didn't know...

The Chainsawr's Efco Story (Please read this if you're considering buying one.)

7Sleeper, go for it. I think the Efco's have suffered in North America for lack of brand recognition (and too often confused with Echo) while being well known in Europe (why they chose the name, Efco, I can't imagine when OleoMak & Olympik were not total strangers). I take the point about...

Seems that Efco is going back to its original name in Europe.

The Chainsawr's Efco Story (Please read this if you're considering buying one.)

The emissions standards are tough (no 2 stokes in California), how long before the major brands start selling 4 strokes in NAmerica in greater numbers? PS My Makita works really well, love it, in fact; but I don't do a lot of cutting, and it it's a tree, I choose my workhorse, the Solo656 (or...

The Chainsawr's Efco Story (Please read this if you're considering buying one.)

I take the point about local distributor. There is only one in Canada, and he's (was?) in Quebec, and before I got my 165, I tried him and his price wasn't competitive with that of a guy in Kamloops who was re-selling from Bailey's. I bought from him the Mak/Dolmar and the 165 but he quit...

Chainsaws you had to use and didn't like.

Have not yet had the pleasure of working with a crappy saw, but I'm finally doing a Small Engine Repair course where I hope to rehabilitate a Mac 2116AV with a bum oiler. Maybe then? post scriptum anyone else using Chrome browser on a Mac (the computer not the saw)? and getting a mixture of...

McCulloch Mini and Small CC Chainsaw's

Sorry, I forgot to add, yes, it does run. No pooling; the guy who gave it to me claims he changed the lines. I haven't verified yet.

McCulloch Mini and Small CC Chainsaw's

TWO THINGS: why is the site half in Swedish, today? I have a 2116AV with an oiler that doesn't work. Will I have to replace the oiler pump? If so, where do I find parts? Correction: the Swedish appears only when I use Chrome for iMac; not there with Safari or Firefox...

EFCO Brand - Please leave me your feedback!

Sorry you didn't buy the EFCO; if you did, you could get the caps off. The top takes some fiddling but it comes off. The rest is easy. My 165 ran very well from the get-go; I will soon remove the caps.

    Fuel mixture terminology.

If you are burning more oil, surely the effluent is going into the atmosphere, which is why the State of California is banning/has banned (?) the 2 stroke engine.

    Fuel mixture terminology.

Thanks for the explanation, but your pics didn't show up... almost; they arrived after awhile. Thanks. Lean = less fuel; rich = more fuel, and in both cases the air is the same. The 50 vs 40 is also very helpful. If there is less oil, there is less pollution; more oil is more pollution; BUT...

    Fuel mixture terminology.

The fuel/air mix is a topic that is always thoroughly confusing for me, whether the fuel/oil mix is 40:1 or 50:1 (aka, fuel). If you "lean out the saw", are you adding fuel or air? If you "richen it up", are you adding fuel or air?
