    338xpt muffler mod

Chops, Thank you for chiming in, and posting pics of your work. It looks great. I guess the hole on the bottom of the muffler cover is a dead give-away, as to where to place the tube. My cover doesn't have that hole, so I will make one. Please let me know how the muffler mod adds to...

    338xpt muffler mod

Thanks for the pic Thackman. Yes that's the concept I was thinking of. My 338xpt is a different configuration than your saw however. Anyone else? Have the total sum surface area of existing exhaust hole and an added hole, to equal roughly 85% the surface area of the cylinder head exhaust...

    338xpt muffler mod

Guys, I have a lightly used Husqvarna 338xpt in original condition. I am wanting to do a muffler mod to it. No other porting, head or skirt mods planned for right now. The plan is to tig in a length of tube into the muffler. What I need to know is....... What should the ID of the tube...

    090 Timing

The points are clean, and I didn't disconnect any other wires.........just hooked the multometer / test lamp up as per the shihl service manual. It said to disconnect the short circuit wire from the on / off switch [ kill switch wire that goes back to the points ] and connect one lead of the...

    090 Timing

Have a question about setting the 090 timing please. In the manual, it shows a " light box" [ or some other name for it ] to determine exactly WHEN the points close. The light comes on when the points close and the circuit is completed. I understand the theory behind it all. So, the mark on...

    Chinese Jugs

OK, so he sells Mako. Is that the same as Red Barn, Huztl, Generator, NWP, etc........? Everyone's add says......."premium quality" but we all know that in advertising, any saying goes. How do you know you are getting useable Chinese junk at the very least?

    Chinese Jugs

An OEM kit here costs almost $500 after tax..........

    Chinese Jugs

Anybody know how many *different* factories are putting out the various Chinese jugs? I need a cylinder kit for the 090, and there are at least 6 different sellers on ebay with these, and the pics of the kits all look to be the same. Are they all coming from just one factory? Hard to know what...

What Can I Use For A Ring Compressor?

Good ideas, thanks. Have some steel banding around, I'll cut some of it to fit. I use fingers on the smaller / single rings, but 66mm 2 rings.......ouch!

What Can I Use For A Ring Compressor?

On an 090 piston, 66mm. Last time I used two zap straps, one on each ring and it worked OK, not the best though, wondering what else you guys have come up with?

    Great 090 find

Yep! I got lots of love last week too when I posted pics of the $40 090 I located and bought.

    Great 090 find

Ok, I can feel your love already, lol......... Picked up a very nice 090 from the original owner today. It is non running. The guy was using it about 10 years ago when it just quit, he said. He has not trouble-shooted it since. The compression seems low, but the piston looks very good through...

    Scored.........a $40 090

Ouch! Did I mention the 090 bar I got from a different guy yesterday? He had bought a 090G from a govt auction that came with three 47" bars, all .404". You know the type I mean, the kind that the 090's came with back in the day, the ones with the round wheel at the nose [ I don't know the...

    Scored.........a $40 090

It's an 090.........6 shoe clutch etc...... Apparently, guys drop saws and other power equipment off wanting it repaired and end up leaving there at the shop [ by choice ]. They have no further use for it in it's broken condition after finding out the cost of said repairs, leave it behind...

    Scored.........a $40 090

I bought this 090 from a local saw shop mechanic today. A customer brought it in wanting it *restored* to working condition, but buddy talked him out of it, said the old saw wasn't worth it.......... Then I happened across it.......offered 50 but buddy says "no" that's too much, how about 40...

Want to Buy Stihl 090 Fanwheel

William, Is there a little "notch" in the inside diameter? The pic is too small for me to spot it if there is. If yes, then yep, that's the one. If not, then that's the early version.

Want to Buy Stihl 090 Fanwheel

That's a flywheel on ebay right now. I need a FANwheel........the fan that attaches to the flywheel. That flywheel, BTW is the early Bosch. The newer ones are different and mount the starter cup differently. Subtle differences........but the early / later versions don't mix and match.

Bar mod......stihl or husky to dolmar

Thanks for the help guys. It looks do-able then. Lots of good advice. Does anybody know if there is a bar stud from another saw, say Husqvarna or Stihl that will work / share the same thread diameter and pitch as the Dolmar 153? I would prefer to get a second set of bar studs and modify them...
