Stihl is always preferable But I run alot of aftermarket cylinders. No problems Cross has cylinders too and all the other parts I don't think they have shortblocks though.

Guy's are getting 170 or so comp instead of 150

If i build any more i'll use the cross 390 with popup piston. I've seen some good vids

Echo 490 was my quietest saw. I dual ported the muffler though.

That's all i did to my first one. Ran great A guy brought one in that he cut the tube out of the muffler. It was ungodly loud Had him buy another and i tuned it.

I traded it off didn't need 2 I run my 372s and 590 cutting dead ash mostly Eventually I'll get a 620 to try out.

The two i have 3-5 pulls to pop with the choke on. Then choke in 1 to run i don't use the decomp. Anyone remember inital carb settings for the 590? I pulled the limiters and muff modded mine. You're carb may need adjusted.

Ebay has them often for 300.00 shipped that's what i paid i bought 2 and never used the second one. I gave 600 for a 261 stihl but always ussd the echo. I'm not one for telling people to get their saw's ported. But there is a lot more to be had in these saw's. If interested Check out some vids...

372 just had to drill new holes in the down brace after i cut it down and make a flat plate to relocate bottom screws. I like it It's solid and didn't cost over 110.00 like the echo wrap did.

I don't care for many of the popular Saw's Just the way they feel I happen to like my 590 Had it for over 5 year's Some of my friends don't like the feel. To each his own.
