Have you split any of this yet? I was gona say pecan. The moss and darker core is what makes me think its pecan. If its stringy when split I think its pecan.
It started before Christmas here. This is the third one in the local are in the past 6 months. We are having some crazy weather. Ours are nothing like what you have out there. They don't stay on the ground long here due to all the hills/mountains.
Had a tornado come thru Wednesday night so we helped out and made the best of it. Tons of trees down less than 1/4 mile from the house. This was one red oak. Didn't measure it but welll over three feet at the base. Made me remember why I try not to mess with big trees. Some how I forget...
There is no problem what so ever with burning that wood. Don't fill your box full of it, just mix it or split it for kindling. I get the similar red oak, poplar, white oak from my bro in laws foundry. Some of the cleanest burning wood I have ever seen. Works really well in smokers to for...
How many of you all cook with your wood stove? We make baked potatoes and corn on the cob and other various vegetables inside ours. They taste so much better than any other way I cook them. Anybody got other ideas on what and how to cook with our stoves?
Its a new thermometer I got at TS the other day cause I was curious as to how hot the stove got. But yeah like you said, it's not warping and the chimney isn't on fire so I guess it's good. We have been burning this for 3 years in the house now and before that I burnt it at mothers house...
Ashley
It's an Ashley stove. Was in my parents house before I got it. So I guess it's around 25-30 years old. Fire box is about 20" deep and 26" across.
Does anyone have one of the magnetized thermometers on their stove? It doesn't take much for me to get it in the "over fire" range. It says up to 300 is creosote, 300-600 is good, and above 600 is over fire. With a good bed of coals and new wood loaded, say up to 5 hours after putting them...
Guess I'm real lucky! My neighbor has 100 acres that surrounds my 5 and we live at the end of a dead end road. I have come home to him cutting my grass cause he said he ran out of things to do. He's also retired and stays home most of the time and keeps an eye on everything. We haven't...
Raffle Tickets
Hey I own a print shop so if your getting paper tickets made I will do them for nothing. Sorry if I am behind and someone has already said this. I haven't read all the pages. Just shoot me a pm whoever is doing it.
Spray in is the way to go but a rubber mat is the next best thing. I still got almost all the paint, no rust, a few dents, and nothing slides around in it. I hate that sliding around crap!
30 minutes will do it. Thats the only way we cook them in the winter. I would suggest rotating and flipping them about half way through. The best darn taters ever!
The local hardware store said he would make me a deal! Is $670 really a good deal? I am new to chainsaws and cutting wood, but I have realized I need a bigger saw than my CS370. Should I go rip his arm off! Thats powerhead and 20" bar and chain.
I've never used a grinder only by hand with the visual guide. Touching up the blade every tank of gas or two has worked well with me. I've found that I have to hit the cutters with my right hand 2 or 3 more times than my left to get a good straight cut. Always big chunks though.
