Is it safe to run a fireplace insert 24/7?

Yes, it is installed as per code requirements, but I want to ensure that I never have a problem that requires my insurance company.

Is it safe to run a fireplace insert 24/7?

I thing that just about sums it up.

Is it safe to run a fireplace insert 24/7?

That's kind of what I thought. Aside from keeping the gaskets/door seals in good shape, lubing the blower motor, and periodic inspections, what else should I be doing in terms of maintenance?

Is it safe to run a fireplace insert 24/7?

My father has a Wood Chief insert that he purchased from Lowes in 1991. It has served him very well. Based on that experience, I picked up the same exact model second-hand last year. However, I like to use mine for the cost-savings benefit, whereas he is more of a "recreational user". My...

    I weighed a load yesterday.

It's that type of work that'll keep you young at heart for a long time. Humans haven't survived for 200,000 years by growing soft working behind desks.

    Okay You Pallet Burners !

The hottest air that my fireplace insert ever put out was when I was burning hard maple pallets. It ran the temp in my 3000 sq. ft. house up to 80ºF when the outside temp was 13ºF!

What, exactly, is a "Master Logger"? How does one go about getting the certification?

    Free wood

As a woodworker, I can't help cringe a little when I think of the possibilites that wood would have had coming off the the sawmill. On the other hand . . . it does burn nice.

    Scrounging for Splitter parts!

Where the hell did you find a deal like that? I can't even look at an I-beam for $25 around here!

    Tennessee GTG 6/19

Some bad news: Sadly, I will have to back out of attending the GTG. My wife and I are in the midst of a custody battle for my 2 year old nephew and things are "heating up". I really need to devote as much time as I can to this. I hate like hell to do this, but I don't have much of a...

I still plan on attending. As stated earlier, I'll bring the drinks.

Chain brake - helpful or hinderance

You are absolutely correct about the perspective. "Jaded" would proabably be an understatement. It's very interesting to hear from those who don't care for the brake; and from those who dismiss it altogether.

Chain brake - helpful or hinderance

When I was a kid, I witnessed my father suffer a near fatal accident while cutting firewood. The saw kicked back, hitting him in the face, neck, and shoulder. The saw was an old Homelite with no chain brake. After that incident, he immediately went out and purchased a newer model that had a...

    Building shed for firewood

If you really want to keep costs down, then look for mineral paper. It's like one giant shingle all rolled up. One roll is 3'x25' and only costs about $14.

So how many confirmed attendants so far? Also, someone mentioned a cookout. If that's the case, then we might want to make a list of who will bring what. Example - burgers: hot dogs: drinks: I'll take care of this one grill fuel (charcoal/LP): plates/silverware/napkins: You get...

    Cleaning saws...whatcha use??

Good thinkin' on reusing the old dishwasher! I got busted by my wife once for using the dishwasher to clean a H-D engine case after it was sand blasted. Needless to say, there was some "unpleasantness".
