    GARDOL GMSH 50?

I read the 5020 threads then bought the Gardol. The one difference is the Gardol has a .325 sprocket, which I actually prefer. I saw in some of the 5020 threads people wanting to convert them to .325. A Gardol GMSH 50 sprocket might work (if available in the U.S.)?

    GARDOL GMSH 50?

Anyone know anything about the Gardol GMSH 50? Some are for sale on ebay. Best I can figure is it's a European private label made by Husquvarna, and the specs and shape seem similar to a Poulan Pro 5020. (edit= fixed minor typo)

    80cc saw for 160 dollars??

I had one too, and the engine was fine. It started and ran reliably and had reasonable power. But everything around the engine was junk. The plastic covers were floppy and felt cheap, and there was some problem with the drive to the oil pump (I forget what). I wound up donating it to a...

    80cc saw for 160 dollars??

I have the same memories of Japanese products in the 1960s. Japanese=plastic junk that would break immediately. I remember going to the local TG&Y and laugh at the Japanese junk. But Japanese products got better and better. I remember my dad's first Toyota, which was vastly better than his...

Help with a dawn redwood tree!!!

I'm not a tree professional and can't be much help, except to say I've got a Dawn Redwood at my house, probably 10 years old. So far as I can tell, there's no such thing as too much water for them. My basement sump pump empties to a perf line right by mine and it is thriving. Only trouble...

    Can I save this Pawpaw?

Picture included if I did this right. Zone 6, NE Kansas. This Pawpaw tree is about 6 feet tall, and was growing vigorously until this spring. We had a very cold winter, with a late, hard frost in early May. The tree was not leafed out yet when the frost hit. One branch is still alive...

    Husky 435 no compression

No obstructions in the muffler. It feels very different when I pull it. It won't fire even if I use starting fluid (ether). Yes, I pulled it repeatedly with the compression gauge attached. This saw really has almost no compression.

X3 on hot water on your arm. After that, single malt scotch. (No, don't put it on your arm.)

    Husky 435 no compression

I've got a Husky 435 that I bought as a refurb from Vmi__________ (I don't know if that is still a filtered word). I bought it on sale and with a coupon, so it was cheap. I don't cut much anymore, and didn't even open the box until the 90 day warranty was long gone. When I started using...

    The Chicom knock-off industry...

A couple years ago I bought a Chinese "5200" on Ebay, mostly out of curiosity. It was cheap; under $100. The case colors looked like a Stihl, but it was not advertised as such and there were no Stihl emblems on it. As I understand it, the saw was a copy of a Redmax G5000, but that's really...

Your favorite Poulan model under 80cc

Poulan "Wild Thing." Makes a great loaner if a relative or "friend" insists on borrowing a saw. If the loanee straight gasses it or drops it out of the back of his truck while driving down the highway, I can always get another for under $100.

    Bald Cypress Tree Knees

I've got three Bald Cypress that I planted about 20 year old in my front yard in northeast Kansas. They are now about 10-12 inches in diameter at the base and about 20 feet tall. I would describe the soil as deep, well drained silt-loam. There are no knees or roots on the surface. Beautiful...

seeking input on my Husqvarna 345

I've got a 345 I bought some time ago at farm supply store, the employees of which didn't know which end of a chainsaw cuts, and which end you hold. I had to adjust the high speed idle with a splined tool I bought from ebay. But it runs great now.

Which is your favorite saw for around the house?

435 Refurbished Husky 435 I bought from ################## for $142.45 with coupon. It has more power and runs more smoothly than my Poulan Wild Thing. It is lighter than my Husky 345. I did have to adjust the high speed mixture, but now it starts easily and runs great. It is the saw I grab...

    stolen stuff on Craigslist?

A year or so ago, I saw a great deal on Craigslist for a medium sized Stihl that was supposedly in near new shape. When I called, the guy wanted to meet me at a gas station. I understand that Craigslist sellers often don't want people coming to their houses, with good reason. But how do you...
