Granberg EZ rails leveling rods unscrewing mid-slab - what should I do?

I just put a nut on each screw and tighten it after I level it. I use a tight string along the rail to ensure it is straight. Only way to get a good 20’ cut. Setup takes longer than cutting.

Largest bar for Husky 394xp for milling?

I have a 395xp with the granberg 36" mill. I think the bar is 52". I just cut a big maple and had to work the far end(handle)around the curves to get it through. The saw didn't have any problem. P.S. not all 52 inches is in the wood with this set up.

    Concrete saw conversions?

sounds like for the 3120 I would have to buy a new saw to get the old saw working?

    Concrete saw conversions?

I just read a few posts on here about internal problems with concrete saws due too dust. I guess it will just be a gamble, I don't even know what model they are as they are shrink wrapped on a pallet.

    Concrete saw conversions?

I am am thinking about bidding on a pallet of 8 Husqvarna concrete saws, all need work. Can these be converted to chain saws? Or a power head for my lewis winch? How are they different from a stock 3120?

any changes i need to make

Set up is the most important part(and a sharp chain). Measure, level, check again. Cut with consistent pressure and grip. It is not hard to cut curves with a chainsaw, which is why I like it. But if you want straight and level, double check everything, the vibration from the saw can change...

Started milling Red Pine for the cabin

We cut the joists this Spring, the 8 that were skinned were much lighter than the two we didn't debark until this weekend. The plan is to tarpaper the floor and use it a s a roof for hunting season, then pull the paper(for a shanty) and build the walls in the spring. So after cutting the...

    Saw started running fast

Ended the day using my 395xp with a 28" bar to cut the 6" notches.

    Saw started running fast

I was cutting out notches in cabin logs this weekend with my Husqvarna 51 when it started idling real high, just wouldn't slow down. I shut it down and restarted a couple of times, same thing. I checked and found the air filter had popped off and there was dirt in the carb intake. Does...

    Husky 395xp problem

I had a similar problem with my 2011 395xp and it was the vent. Plugged from the factory. I understand yours was replaced, but, when it dies, remove the fuel cap. Is there a suction sound? If not then check for spark as soon as it dies.

Which new saw should I get?

As I was driving to work today I thought about stopping at the Husqvarna dealership, then I remembered what happened last time i bought a new saw there. I just happened to be driving by the Stihl dealership at the time. What new Stihl is comparable to a 576 or 390 xp?

Which new saw should I get?

I have a 395xp for milling. But the outboard clutch with a "universal" mount doesn't work well on the lewis winch. I have burnt up 2 $60 6" bars with that. I may get the 390, but what is the design difference in between the 3 and 5 series saws?

Which new saw should I get?

I am getting a new power head for my lewis winch, it will also be used on my Granberg small log mill. Which new Husky in between 70-90cc has an inboard clutch? What is the difference in between the 576 and the 372? other than a few cc's and the weight. I was going to get a 385 but I...

A reality check for a wannabe CS miller please.

As stated above, chainsaw milling is slow and cumbersome. But, it all fit's in the back of my Saturn. I then drive 5 hours North to where a friend is building a cabin, transfer the milling stuff to his truck, and we drive 3 miles up a unimproved two track, across a home made bridge and up a...

Started milling Red Pine for the cabin

We started milling red Pine for the cabin this weekend. Rained and snowed all of the first day, but chainsaw milling keeps me warm. The 5, 20' 2x12 boards were from one tree. The smaller logs will be joists, milled on one side. Pine sure is easy to work with compared to the Oak at home.
