    Wood ID

You have a Hybrid Poplar. I have 8 of them. Took one down back in March. Bark, leaves and color of the wood and even the dark center are just what you have. Mine was 30 years old and about 50ft high. Very heavy wood when green. Dries out pretty fast and is very light after sap is gone.

    Diesel tractor

I agree WoodTick. I have a Deutz Fahr agrofarm 100. Started many times at 5-10 deg and several times at - 5. It automatically uses the glow plug somewhere around 37 deg and down. That engine always fires off on the 2nd or third rotation. Only diesel engine I ever had that doesn't smoke on cold...

Flat plate heat exchanger domestic water

I used the same thing 3 years ago. Can't run out of hot water as long as there's fire in the stove.

    Bobcat/skidstter splitter build

I had a homemade splitter on 3 point for many years. It had a plate pusher and wedge was welded on the beam. Wedge was about 12" tall and from cutting edge to rear was about 12" and back of wedge was about 7" wide. I took the 3 point hitch off and put the splitter on the tractor loader upside...

    PTO Generator Project

I have a 12 kw run 15 surge pto generator. Manual says 24 hp required. It's rated for 540 rpm also. I use a 100hp Deutz Fahr tractor and run 1000 range on the pto. Engine is turning 1,200 rpm to get 540 off the pto. It works great. Turn on the 2 biggest loads at the same time and tractor never...

    New Mahindra 5035 with grapple

The JD plant was right beside the Farmtrac plant a few years ago in India. My Farmtrac dealer showed me the picture. I expect they are still being operated. Farmtracs are still being made. Just don't have dealer chains in the US now. I'm sure there are many other brands being made in India too.

    Fuel mixture

I use Saber from Amsoil in my saws and all 2 stroke engines here. I tried it at 100:1 and thought my saws were running hotter than normal. I have no measurement figures but it just felt like it was hotter. Use to have a Sachs Dolmar 120 and now have 2 Dolmar 7900's. So I started running Saber...

    4wd Tractor advice

Philbo, I owned a 574 IH 54 hp +- with loader and could move 2,000 pounds if I was very careful. Had rears loaded with methanol and it got very light with a ton on the front. Then I traded and got a Farmtrac 80,72 hp. Could move 1 ton pallets ok but had to be on level ground to move with any...

This may have been posted before. Looks like it works great. Don't have to bother about ethanol or e-free gas, hydraulic oil to cold or hot. Pretty work.

Haul-back winch options for tractor logging winch owners.

I found a MileMarker hydraulic winch on Craigs list for $450. It came off a truck and had been used a couple times in 10 years. Looked like new. It used the power steering pump on the truck for power. I use it on my tractor and plug in the remote hyd. Has remote control, 2 speed and freewheel...

Help with hooking up a variable speed air handler to a generator

I talked to the folks I get my power from and said it was OK to use this. The last one I bought had a nfpa sticker on it also. They are pretty simple to install. Have to move a breaker or 2 to another slot and install the new breaker on the upper right side of the panel and then drill several...

Help with hooking up a variable speed air handler to a generator

Generator has a 30 amp plug. Used #6 wire and it's about 15 ft. long. Heat pump/blower running pulls 11 amps. Start up it pulls 39 amps. Thanks for the info on the compressor and fan. I didn't know anything about them. A friend where I work had the same problem in the summer when the direito...

Help with hooking up a variable speed air handler to a generator

kybaseball wrote "I have a 7500 watt generator that I will be using. I plan in putting in a 10 circuit transfer switch. My bother in law thought the generator wouldn't be enough to run the air handler." I just installed 8500 watt / 10,000 watt for my son a few days before Christmas. He wanted...

Help with hooking up a variable speed air handler to a generator

What's your concern with the variable speed unit and generator? I've never worked with that type of product but do work heavy industrial electrical. Where I work we run some AB vfd's on a generator if we have a power failure. It's all 3 phase 480 vac. These units have to run after power failure...

    Seafome or sta-bil

Why 15 month old gas? I stated in the last post that it was a TEST. Why is that so hard to understand? When I use a new product I prefer to test and verify. When I make a statement about a product you can bet I tested it and know what it did for me. I don't post about snakeoils and such. Either...

I always get a kick out'a statements like, "xyz works for me." LOL How do you know it works?? I mean really... how do you know?? Just because the fuel didn't go bad with your favorite chemical added don't mean it would have gone bad with out it... LOL. Glad you got your kick. Have you used...
