    Dolmar 420 problem

Took saw to dealer. Rev limiter is cutting in at 11500 rpm. Is this normal? Would like a bit more speed if it can be had with-out major mods. Saw is stock with kat and carb adjust limiters in place. Dealer indicated carb limiters in stock condition will prevent saw from running both rich or...

    MS 261 C-M cold start

Took saw to dealer today. It was flooded due to dirty air filter. New filter and new plug and it runs like a champ. Brad is right. The saw should be in start position until it is running. There is no choke just a fast idle position for starting. Thanks Tom

    MS 261 C-M cold start

261 c have only run 4 tanks of gas and that when weather was 70 to 80 degrees. Temp today 30 degrees and all I got was a pop on two tries to start it. I think it is flooded and would pull and read the plug but I do not know how to remove the plug. Any advise would be appreciated. Dealer is a...

    Dolmar 420 problem

Saw fires first pull. Starts on 2nd or third pull. Engine idles smoothly. When speed increased engine speed becomes irregular with or without bar and chain. Looses power to the point it will not pull the chain in the cut. Replaced plug , washed air filter, cylinder and piston look like new...

    Rollomatic E bar jam

Have had the problem several times. Each time it has been wood fibers between the nose sprocket and the bar. Turning the oiler full on helped some. The sprocket jambs so tight that it cant be moved until the fiber has been removed with a nail or stiff wire! This only happens now when the cut...

    Rollomatic E bar jam

Mels I cleaned and oiled the sprocket today and ran the saw under no load at mid speed for about 5 minutes. The sprocket was warm to the touch but not hot. The center of the bar was not warm. This sprocket turns harder than the ones on the other saws. Fangst Sorry but I dont have the...

    Rollomatic E bar jam

Have a new Stihl 261c-m with 18" Rollomatic E bar. Chain is 26 RM 74. .325 pitch .063 gauge. On the 3rd tank of fuel. Have yet to burn a tank of fuel without having the nose sprocket jam with fine shreds of wood fiber. This happens everytime I cut at any angle but 90 degrees to the grain. I cut...

    husky 455 rancher autotune

Has the Husky 455 ranger auto tune been discontinued? I found sources on ebay with what look like low prices, but nothing on the Husky site. Were these saws a problem? I was looking for the 455 or 460 to possibly replace a tired husky 350. Autotune would be a nice feature if it is available...

    Need a saw limited budget!!

Might try a new Husky with Auto tune. I have seen some at about 50cc new on line no tax, no shipping that should cut as good or better than the 455. Auto tune should also prevent the scored p/c problem as well. I think the was talk of a 455AT coming out at less than $500. Let us know what you...

M-Tronic and Auto-Tune simply emission controls?

The system is then able to correct a lean problem to some extent? Tom

M-Tronic and Auto-Tune simply emission controls?

I guess my question is can these systems prevent a saw from running lean? If so what else can it do for the operator? Tom

M-Tronic and Auto-Tune simply emission controls?

Stopped by our local friendly Stihl dealer this morning and of course new saws were handled. When the subject of M-Tonic came up our dealer stated that M-Tronic and Auto-Tune were simply emission controls that prevented the saw from running rich, nothing more. Said that Intelcarb did the same...

    Chain favored for 350 Husky

I have a 350 Husky w/18in bar. It runs .325x.050. What is your favorite in this size chain on this 50cc saw. I cut 7 to 10 cords of stove wood per year. Wood is dropped in our yard by local tree service. Wood is handled by crane and not dragged but we still run into rot and dirt that is hard on...

    Husqvarna 455 rancher2 autotune

I have seeen the 455 Rancher auto tune online for $440 free shipping/ no tax. Thats new in the box to your door. Dont think our local dealer has any yet. The 460/465 should weight the same as the 455AT. 545At should be about a pound lighter. I have a friend who runs a tree service. He bought...

    Auto-tune sucks

Jeremy Thanks for the quick reply! I think in the near future we will see a more toward Auto-Tune type systems if for no other reason than to keep the Govts off the mfgs back. Stihl is pretty quiet about the EFI system they are running on a couple of their Cut-Off saws too. If they survive in...

    Auto-tune sucks

Hamish I know this is an old thread, but I have to ask: can anyone define Auto Tunes capabilitys? If it provided protection to the piston and cylinder in the case you have pictured it must be a pretty well thought-out system. What can it actually do and what are it's limites. Sounds like it...

Yet another newbie/what to buy thread...

No matter how much power your saw has a sharp chain trumps a dull one every time. Learn to file the chain in the field. Good rule to follow is two passes with the file on each tooth each time you refuel and fill the b/c oil tank. The kinds of wood you mentioned are all good for firewood. I...
