    husqvarna 440-XTORQ (REVIEW BY- LOGGER)

I've had a 440e for two years now and it's done a lot of work. It's great saw for small wood and limbing. I love the tooless chain tensioner as well and have never had a problem with it. I find it's faster and easier to swap bars/chains on this saw than on my ms290.

Thinking about muffler modding my ms290

It's 1.5 years old, my warranty is already up right? If I take it in to have something done will a shop work on it if I'm paying for the service? Is there anything illegal about doing it? It pulls an 18" b/c good now so I assume it will pull a 20" bar great after the mod? Does anyone know...

    How to start own business.

I would suggest going back to school and finishing a 4 year degree. If you enjoy computers study computer science (not information systems). Computer Science isn't easy as it's very abstract and is also math/theory oriented but if you enjoy it and get through you should be able to easily get a...

I want to fix my Poulan 3400

Hey guys! I want to make my Poulan 3400 a little better and that shouldn't be hard to do. Right now it has a 20" Tilton bar and a chain that looks way to big for it to pull on there. I want to get a new bar and chain for it but I have no idea what to buy. I want to run a 20" bar if that will...

    Homelite 360 worth $60???

I'm sure I can justify the purchase. I have a brand new Stihl ms290 and a Poulan 3400 in good condition. Both are in the same cc class as that saw. I do however want to get a new B/C for my Poulan.

    Homelite 360 worth $60???

I found a Homelite 360 in my area that is $60. The description says the saw is easy to start and runs like an animal. Is this saw worth 60 bucks? How many cc's is it?

    Stihl MS250 vs. Husqvarna 435 or 445

I recommended the 290 and I can tell you this... I have a Husqvarna 440 and a Stihl ms290. The 440 and 435 are very similar. The Husqvarna is good saw for small stuff and the fact that it is so light is definitely a plus. I just bought the ms290 and I only use the 440 for the smallest stuff now...

    Stihl MS250 vs. Husqvarna 435 or 445

I wouldn't be looking at those saws if you want to run an 18" B/C. They are really better suited to a 16" B/C. I would get a Stihl ms290 Farm Boss. I got mine for less than $370 out the door brand new. It has a 56cc engine and has a lot more power than the 3 saws you mentioned. For how much wood...

No hole to grease bar tip on ms290??

Are all Stihl bars made this way? I know Husqvarna bars aren't.

No hole to grease bar tip on ms290??

My ms290 doesn't seem to have a hole at the tip of the bar to apply grease to the sprocket. Is this normal? Every other saw I've operated requires grease for the tip. I'm using the 18" bar that came with it. It's a rollomatic e I believe.

Chainsaw Recomendations for a Novice (noob)

If you're going to only be limbing branches baseball to softball size you really don't need anything bigger than 40cc... The Echo should be fine, how often are you going to use this saw? Daily, weekends, two months out of the year? I would get the lightest saw that doesn't break the bank from...

Under 9lb 40cc class saw - Suggestions please.

I have a Husqvarna 440e that seems to be a pretty good light saw close to 9 lbs. the 435 is a little lighter and is still 40cc. Only problem is both are homeowner saws, not pro rated. I haven't had mine a very long time but it seems to be pretty solid, reminds me of my dads 350. Mine does have a...

Husqvarna 440 bogs before warmed up

Is it normal for a saw to bog if revved after it has just been started. After I start my 440 it bogs down if I try to rev it even just a little. It also emits a lot of smoke from the muffler. If you wait a minute to warm up it's fine. The saw has had no more than 5 tanks of gas through it. It...

Poulan 3400 B/C and a few other questions

I think the B/C on my Poulan 3400 is waaayyyyyy to big for it... It's a 20" Tilton bar and the chain is huge, maybe a .404 but I can't tell. The rakers and the cutters are really far apart and I've never seen a chain like that. It doesn't pull very hard at all in any wood. Thats the way it came...

Tried out my new ms290, I have some questions

Yea, I already took that safety chain off and put a normal one on there and it seems much much better. Is the stock bar good? I noticed it was a low kickback one.

Tried out my new ms290, I have some questions

2-3 hours every few weeks. But like I said, a good majority of the time I wear muffs. I need to get a new pair because while mine have a tight fit over my ears they are big and heavy and not comfortable for me after those long periods. I always wear gloves and eye protection (I'm especially...

Tried out my new ms290, I have some questions

I guess I'm going to start wearing ear protection all the time. I'd like to get a new pair of ear muffs because I hate the ones that go in my ears. I have a pair that I use when I'm shooting but I want a pair that's more comfortable that I can wear for shooting and running my chainsaw. What are...

Tried out my new ms290, I have some questions

Thanks for all the comments guys! I'm going take it back to the dealer and have them look at it. I'm a little bummed I already have to go back but it will be awesome once its starting easy! Also, I really like the look of Jonsered saws. Why are the dealers all on the west coast? Are the prices...

Tried out my new ms290, I have some questions

I wear gloves, eye protection, and ear protection. I was wondering if ear protection is really that important. I've ran my 440 without ear protection a few times and I never had any ringing in my ears before or after running it and never really noticed anything. Is ear protection really that...

Tried out my new ms290, I have some questions

Thanks for all the replies guys. I think I'm going to keep the 290 because I'm really happy with it besides the difficulty starting it. Sorry, I must have phrased it wrong. It didn't take me 7-8 pulls to start. More like 2-3 with choke on to get it to pop and then 1-2 half choke to get it to...
