nice saw. My last load for the season I left the 460 at home and took my brand new 170 out. brought home a load of 6"-9" round logs to start drying out over winter, paid for itself in one load.

Thats what he is trying to say, to run the 11gpm pump at 3450rpm you need 5hp, 3 more hp than that motor will do. but if you go the other motor and run the pump at 1750rpm the 2hp may be ok.
You will have to put a pressure control valve in a seperate circuit for the saw. you may also need a flow control valve so the saw moves at a controlled speed when under no or little load.

I like to keep mine out of the weather aswell. With the box I can still pile wood all around and on top of the saws and not damage them.

I brought a little ms170 when they were having a big special on most saws. The bloke behind the counter worked out that he had to sell 10 at the special price to make back the same money as he would selling 3 at the normal price.
I have only ever cut jarrah (Eucalyptus Marginata) and red gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis) so I know no different. I do have to sharpen my chain at least once some times twice for ever tank of gas.
