It looks like you lost the circlips that hold the piston wrist pin in place. What does the piston look like?

    Problems with my 660...

Looks like water corrosion. As long as the jets are not plugged you can reuse the carb. To clean the idle jets, if they are plugged, you would need to remove the welch plug.

    Porting a 066BB

I haven't tried to hone it, but from looking at the one I have. I believe it is unhoned NiSi. There is a very small ridge at the very top left from machining the squish band, it can be seen in the picture. You'll never get a ring up that far though.

Sealed bearings instead of Open bearings ? Can I ?

Do you remember if it was it because the sealed bearing failed quicker or that there was not enough of a change to make it worth the extra cost?

Who wants to go in on a 54 gallon drum of VP SEF94 Fuel?

According to the msds its 95% Petroleum Naphtha, so it is mostly white gas/camp fuel.

    361 Shootout

Great work timberwolf! As long the screen isn't mounted directly to the outlet hole, and at least twice the area, it shouldn't cause a restriction. The deflectors with the screen between them and the muffler would cause a restriction. But you can just use a larger hole with the screen to...

    BB Dolmar/Makita with a difference...

After doing some port work on my 066BB jug I'm fairly certain that there is some NiSi up there at the top of the cylinder. Don't know how thick it is, but it is the same color as the unhoned NiSi in the ports. You still wouldn't want to stick a ring in it without honing it first.

    Thread repair inserts

You could rethread a M4 or maybe M5 insert to 12-24. Here is a 5/16" solid insert. The M4 and M5 insert uses a 8mm tap, close to 5/16", the M6 insert use a 10mm or 12mm tap.

You could buy a solid insert and drill and tap it, if you don't want to use a helicoil.

    066 carb?

You can look up the venturi size for most Walbro carbs on their website. http://wem.walbro.com/walbro/group2.asp?FamilyName=WJ The WJ-69 isn't listed but it should have a 19.05 mm venturi.

What can you tell me about my engines by looking at my sparkplugs?

Both plugs look to be still usable, little wear. As far as the color goes, did you shut the engine down hot. The plug from the trimmer could just be from idling too much.

    Porting 101

Length is the same, the angle is off by about 2 degrees between the 084 and 066. The problem is that the 066 boot is for a carb with 31mm bolt centers and the 084 uses 46mm bolt centers.

    Porting 101

New question, after doing all that work on the ports in the jug does anyone try to do anything with the rubber intake boot? The opening in the jug is where the boot connects is ~24mm in diameter. But the inside of the rubber intake boot is about 20.5mm, with a bumpin that narrows it to 17mm...

Stihl 041 losin it's nuts (and bolts...)

If the underside of the bolt head has a saw tooth pattern, it should be self locking once torqued down correctly. If the underside of the bolt is smooth use either loctite or a locwasher.
