    STIHL 041AV starting problems

IIRC - the 041s had a least two versions of an impulse line throughout their history. one of which was a now somewhat difficult to find one with molded connections. 041s are also notorious for needed new fuel lines and impulse lines. if you did not replace those yet, do not waste another...

    Relining old clutch shoes?

i put back on a lining from an 051 that had come off. Did it will some scotch brite pads and an adhesive from 3M called 1300. seemed to work, didn't use the saw a whole though to get a good endurance test.

Stihl 041 AV lost power, backfires through carb.

FWIW - i bought one of those special 4 wheel drive axle removal socket things with the 4 "castleated" points on the end and cut off one of them and it fits the 041 clutch. I think it was 10 bucks. not sure of the size though, but you could probably get some measurements and get your match.

Another 041! now its a chain question...

i am starting to come to terms with the fact that 041s just seem to find me. I am now on my 5th 041 that i have gotten either free or darn close to it. they hold a special place in my heart for some reason. well latest one is from a salesman at my company who's father bought it brand new back...

What do you use to seal a clamshell?

I've used Loctite #1 gasket sealant and Loctite 515 gasket. both have worked for me on numerous gas and high heat applications. Loctite 515 can also be used for many other fuels besides gas. Downside to Loctite #1 is i don't know if it is available anymore and it gets a bit hard when cured.

Safety- Do you remove the spark plug wire?

The first part is not true. I have used many lawnmowers with a clutch to engage the blades.

    modding my 051

i would def run a skip chain on the 051 at 36" bar length. I think you will be surprised at the results.

    modding my 051

i broke down my 051 in an attempt to squeeze some more power out of it. Short from building a custom intake and a full blown expansion chamber muffler thing, there is not much to gain from lets say a port job and a traditional MM on this boat anchor. the ports are already huge and it is a low...

stihl 026 vs 026 Pro questions - again

well i bought it. got it for $200. it is in really very good shape with nothing broken or damaged. runs like new and i checked out the piston and she is purty. like the huge tool i am, i went ahead and slapped a PRO sticker on it. it does not have the WT194 carb, but i might upgrade it...

stihl 026 vs 026 Pro questions - again

thanks for all the info guys. i really appreciate it. i think i am going to go ahead and grab a near mint 026 from a guy locally. actually, i am getting it tomorrow. everything i have gathered is that the 026, "pro" or not, is real strong little saw.

stihl 026 vs 026 Pro questions - again

so even if it doesnt have the impressive "PRO" sticker on it, the guts of the regular 026 and the pro one are the same? carb too?

stihl 026 vs 026 Pro questions - again

hey guys - need a little guidance here. i know this has been discussed before, but i could not really get to my basic question upon searching. if an 026 has an adjustable oiler, does that make it a Pro model? i don't think you can go on the decomp cause i think some pro ones had that and...

I want a Tach, which one?

the one i have is a tiny tach II. works great and was only around 50 bucks. does not have a replaceable battery but i have heard of some guys getting almost 10 years out of it. the ad said you needed to use the leads and it was not a "wireless" unit. But all i did was coil up the lead wire...

Stihl 041 Crank Case Halves ?

there is a loctite, green i believe in color, that is for bearing fits. works well on just over size to size fits such as a few thousands over. But, it sounds like maybe you have a lot more than that.
