    Swap meet...

Hi guys, good to be back on the form after a 5 + years absence. Tonight I'm looking for an air filter cover for an MS 441. I've got cash and miscellaneous parts and whole saws. Could use a good bar for that saw also, At least 20"; 24 or 28 would be ideal.

    MS 660 rebuild advice

The decompression valve is often overlooked. Be very wary of a decomp valve that shows any wear, especially looseness. I've just finished rebuilding a ms441 which had a deep gouge in the original cylinder. I wondered what made that gouge and suspected maybe a broken spark plug insulator as I...

I could use a couple of throttle rods with flange for the 1128 saws. I'll trade for a filter flange and cover. The flage will be very nice, the cover not so much but still usable. Jimbo

They all go bad. If you get her a used one, it will either be bad or will go bad soon. Stihl came out with an improved coil for this family and it costs about $70. I've had about 6 of these saws; 4 had bad coils. 2 used coils I bought were bad on installation.

    I saw it on Ebay/Craigslist

The best deal I ever saw on CL just went by in Hattiesburg MS. A 372XP for $20 USD! It was not a typo; I was in text comm with the guy. The saw was hard starting and then he broke the pull rope. He claims he just got tired of messing with the saw, which he owned since new, and went and bought a...

I think this is your nut. If that's not it, look around on their site, I'm confident they will have it. You will need to know the diameter and thread pitch (count). Jimbo

The clutch is the 044/046(1128 family)/TS 400 clutch and the oil pump is from the 046/MS460. Brake lever is unique. Jimbo

I bought mine at a local surplus dealer for $1 each. They are SCARY expensive new, but you can often find them on ebay new or used for cheap money. Swiss Riffler at MSC Direct

That one has too coarse of a cut. You want one like these: The one on the left is about 1/4" wide on its face. The teeth are so fine they don't really show up in the pic, even though I used a 12Mp camera! That's what you need since a file like that will not cut into the nikasil, no way, no...

I gave up using acid since I found something faster and safer; a fine cut round face riffler. Cuts the aluminum off fast and will not touch Nikasil. Just skates right over Nikasil. After you can't find any more aluminum to file off, just finish up with 320 sandpaper and you're ready to go...

    Swap meet...

My aftermarket parts guy up the road from me in Ormond beach has been working on sourcing the 084 and 088/MS880 cylinders and mufflers for about a year now and he's just about ready to pull the trigger on a big order. The problem has been quality control. In his office I've seen half a dozen or...

Anybody got a throttle cable for a 3120XP that they can LEND me? I'm starting to make these and need one to copy. Does not have to be pretty just as long as it intact enough to measure the length of the cable and sheath. If you help, I'll give you one new cable ass'y for your trouble. Jimbo

Where to buy an after-market 064 coil...

Sorry for the late post but it just happens than M5 x .8 is 100% interchangeable with 10-32. It's just a quirk of the two measurement systems and it happens one other time with (IIRC) 3/4-16 and M20 x 1.5. Jimbo
